Help!
I got these High Rise Wide-Leg Crop Chinos in Khaki on sale from The Gap last week.

In the fitting room, I thought that for the price it was a good deal.
Now at home I realie I have no clue how to style them. For starters, I think they should be shortened. Or should they?
Then when I look how it's styled on the model in the link above, I realize I am not so fond of them...
Below are some pics of me in them to give you an idea.
Did I make a (albeit 30$, but still, 30$) mistake?

Krish, they definately need a GOOD hack as you mentioned. Like 6 to 8 inches maybe - then you can create a wide crop pants look.

You need to semi-tuck or fully tuck tops with that waistband, which you've done perfectly here.

Maybe you can pin the length shorter so that I can get a better sense of the proportions with footwear and tops?

For toppers, I like short and long with wide crops - rather than regular length.

I’m the absolute last person that should comment - I bought the wide leg chinos from AT that I still am not thrilled with. (Something weird going on with the way they lay at my hips....) and cropped pants aren’t my thing.

But, Ms. Obvious here: If they’re supposed to cropped they sure don’t look it. They should be longer (I.e. full length) or shorter. Can you pin or tape up the hem a bit, then try to style them? That might give you an answer.

Yes, trying them pinned right as we speak! I'm bringing them TOMORROW to my seamstress

Here are below what they look like pinned.

Last pic: my left leg is a little shorter than the right (pic in mirror, which explains why my left lg looks like a right leg). It's hard for my eye to adjust. Still debating whether I'll go shorter.

Wow, what a difference cropped! I wasn’t really keen on them in the first set of pictures, but these look fantastic to me now.

I like them, they’re quite funky. I prefer when you’ve styled them with a full tuck rather than a half tuck....

Shorter makes so much difference. I don’t think I would have thought of it but it just does make them. Will you always wear heels with them? They look super with heels but I wondered if there were other options that you’d consider. Great that your foot is out of the cast.

Wow, what a difference! I have never considered wide crops for me but I really do see the point now and how to style them. Showing some of the lower leg really changes everything and eliminates the very widest part of the pants. Your hunch was right in buying them, and they fit so perfectly in the waist/hip area. Never say never....

I shortened my Uniqlo crops per Angie's recommendation. They were as long as yours in the original pics, but shortened now to 2 inches +/- above the ankle. They are longer than your second set of pics, however. I wore them a bit (black turtleneck and black ankle boots) before retiring from work. When things warm up I am going to wear them with sneakers, t-shirt, and boxy jean jacket.

Carla, do you find them more useful at a slightly longer length? Do you wear them with heels or flats?

I'd like to see them shortened less. Some of the wide crops I got last year were longer than this, and they are wonderfully flowy.

What a difference though! They look great, I predict you'll love them.

Krishnidoux, I wear them with flat shoes since heels are no longer comfortable for me. Loafers, sneakers - and I'm looking for sandals for summer.

I measured and hemmed mine at that sweet spot Angie speaks of (2 inches above the ankle bone) but have yet to post pics at the new length. I can always go shorter if the YLF hive mind suggests I do so!
