Thanks so much everyone. I prefer it open too. I was worried I was being blinded by the colour into buying something that looked wrong on my shape. It wasn't expensive so I think it's a keeper until the perfect one comes along.

Angie - I did try the size up. It didn't work at all it looked like I had water wings on under the coat - just way too much fabric under the arms
