Ask Angie: Ankle length a line skirt to work(College teacher).

Hi,

I am a kind of person who has the principle that in choosing what to wear the most important thing is whether you feel comfortable with in both in psychologically and physically and socially maybe. So when my kids insist wering something out of my kind of dress code, I just ask," Are you feeling comfortable?". That is all.
Recently I happened to buy some ankle length skirts because I liked the details of them but the problem is I really do not know whether the ankle length skirt is suitable for a collge teacher like me. IF it is yes what would wear the top for the ankle length skirts? Mines are straight and slight !line types. what do you think about this?

Wshk, Angie is on vacation for a couple of weeks, so you may want to repost your question then. However, I already know how she will respond by asking you why you don't prefer knee length skirts. They are much more flattering and appropriate for a variety of situations. Long skirts are really best left to those who have some kind of religious restrictions placed on their dress code.

Yes, I know. Knee length skirts have been my favorite since no time whatever length of the skirts were in the street. I was just trying to find some possibilities if any, for fun. It did not sound very fun to have a long skirt for a womanl with with no religious restrictions but I wanted to give it a try. I do not have any idea yet. Maybe none forever.

wshk- Maya is right that generally long skirts can be matronly. but, it depends on how old you are I think. this blogger wears a long skirt occasionally and pulls it off really well, but she is very young and styles it very carefully.

I agree it depends on your age, your style, and your body type and height. Sally of Already Pretty (http://www.alreadypretty.com/) sometimes wears floor-length skirts and it suits her. Angie has said that mid-calf length skirts are ok, worn the right way (for example, with boots).

wshk, this is advanced you look fab and it would help immensely if we had a picture of you wearing the skirt or a link to the actual skirt for reference. I think the long skirt requires extra styling effort to work but Angie will be back from vacation in a couple of weeks and I'm sure she will help.

I have abaondoned the idea of wearing an ankle length skirt to work. I thought it would be great and it might look good on me, of course depending on the style and age and etc. I give it up after I imagined the embarrassing situation like stepping on my own skirt and falling down in front of the student.

RoseandJoan, I have lived in the Edingburgh for several years. My second child was born there at the Simpson Memorial Paviion, which, I think, by now have been changed into flats. Glad to meet a person(s?) from the beautiful city.

cciele, I also have spen some months in the bay area. My place was in Berkeley and visited San Francisco almost every weekend while I was there. I have friends there and have good memories of that place.

queenie from California and Maya from New Jersey, I also visited both states and have good memories of them.
