Not bustier style tops but actual bustiers that have been bought from the lingerie section and worn as a top.

When i first saw this done my brain went, "*gasp!* you can't do that!". But after seeing it over and over on fashion blogs etc now my brain is like, "....maybe i'll try that...."

Plus i'm pretty boobless. If i wasn't i wouldn't even consider it. Will YLF shun me?!

I am wearing a corset inspired tank top as I type. But I don't think actual lingerie as outerwear quite cuts it. Maybe if you're Madonna. Maybe.

Lingerie tops outside of the bedroom get my nay vote. Tops that are thicker material with the boning of a corset top may be cute.

I have a few that are not actual bustiers or corsets, but look pretty close. I think there's a line between those that are bedroom-appropriate and those that are life-appropriate. I think if you can work a bustier or a corset and make it look appropriate enough to wear out, and people don't think you've forgotten your shirt, then go for it!

I just love how she managed to style it in such creative ways! I fully plan on doing something similar in the future.

In one of the Lucky Style books that master iconic looks, they have one look called, "The Bombshell." Though I wish I could dress like that everyday, its not terribly realistic when you are chasing after a 5yr old and 2 yr old. HOWEVER, the corset top is one of the essential pieces for mastering this look. I don't know, I just couldn't!!! Maybe I would have to see it well done and it would have to be the perfect corset...but It would be waaaay too much for a busty gal as myself.

I've seen some bustiers look great under fitted suit jackets with trousers as a dressier monochromatic look on the twentyish crowd.

Yay! Thanks Angie. Next time i'm out shopping i'm pretty sure i'm going to be adding one of these to my closet and playing around with it. Maybe i can even turn some nay sayers into yay sayers

I like the military one in the link, that clearly isn't lingerie. I still think the lacy, boned true lingerie is way too Madonna for real life. But that's just my opinion. I love the look when translated into real clothes, and have 2 tanks and 2 dresses that mimic it.

I really love Tamia's style (through Jyoti's link) and I totally think hers works because to me it looks more like a chic top with bustier leanings rather than a bustier that you picked up at a lingerie shop and threw on. I think it's its color, the detailing around the waist, its matte vs. shiny fabric, the fact that it has no lace...It doesn't really say lingerie to me. Plus she's got lots of layering going on. She's not doing sexy-face for the camera and looking like she just got some boudoir photos taken :). So that's why I think it works!

LOL I'm quite opinionated this morning!
