Suz, I mean when the frames don't lift... it's hard to describe. Below is a picture from try ons in 2011, see what I mean? And a lot of frames that look perfectly fine on the wall do that when I'm wearing them. I guess the thing with the nose pads is that somehow plastic frames (which usually come without nose pads) have become the more fashionable choice. I'm personally not bothered by them. Only my last two pairs of specs were plastic, I always had metal frames with nose pads before that (so from about 5 years old until 17 or 18 years old).

I did say that. I think you have an edgy personality. Am I right?
You have a great little pixie face and need glasses that are chic - i.e. classic with a twist- would really suit you.
Have you tried any that are straight across the top and wider on the face, or a a luxurious tortoiseshell but in a modern frame - wide oblong with slightly rounded corners. Stuff the eye centring. That cones after you get the look. You have a naturally gorgeous face and style and you can carry off anything on the face!!

Thanks Archer - interesting that you see me as edgy, because I would never describe myself with that term. Straight across the top always looks bad on me, I don't like those looks at all. And I wouldn't say a lot of frames suit me either, I don't have a natural "glasses face". Also, it's very difficult to get my eyes centered, most glasses (especially plastic) are too low on me, so my eyes are in the upper third of the frames with massive free space below (when they're sitting as high as my nose allows).

I really like the burgundy frames on you.

Spanner here. I prefer the high contrast black glasses on you, more dramatic. Yes it's true your coloring is low contrast but you are young with a pretty face so you can pull off a more dramatic look.

Now, whether you WANT a more dramatic look is another thing.

I love #2 burgundy pair on you! I think the black are a nice and edgy. But something about the shape and lines of pair #2 just looks really pretty, feminine, but still with some oomph to stand out.

I think it depends on what you want and love!

Thanks Gauche!

Thanks Denise. No question, the black ones would work too... I'm going to revisit the store tomorrow together with the friend I mentioned in the beginning, I'm looking forward to hearing what he thinks about them. Another friend of mine I sent the pictures to also preferred the black ones. Oh and I have to say, the black ones are a lot cheaper too.

Thanks Keturah!

I agree with Denise. I rather like the black frames. A darker frame would also help in picking up on the darker colours you've ben wearing lately.

Oh, and what about trying a deep purple shade too?

Thanks Diane! Although I shouldn't pick my frames based on the dark clothes, it's still the goal to lighten my wardrobe up overall. Slowly but surely. I like the idea of purple, but there wasn't any available that looked good shapewise. I think I tried everything that wasn't black (and some black ones besides).

Of course I could look in other stores, but I only started looking for new specs to start with because there I get the 100€ markdown. I don't want to spend money on expensive frames elsewhere.

I really like both of these and I'd be hard pressed to pick a favourite. I love the colour and shape of the CK's on you, but somehow the InVogue ones read a bit sharper?

One thing I would say is that I definitely favour resin frames over metal ones, because I'm a bit irritated by those little nose pad things. Purely a personal thing, and not a deal breaker. I've had some lovely metal frames over the years.

I prefer the burgundy, definitely. Like Suz, I find the notepads too visible on the style of these specs (rimless bottom).

Thanks approprio! I think that's going to be a difficult decision... I do think the CK are prettier and I definitely like the color better on me than the black, but you're right that the black ones are sharper. And also less expensive. I've had resin frames since 2007, now (my last two pairs). Before that I always had metal frames with nose pads. I think it's going to be quite the change, but I've managed well in the past, so why should now be different.

Thanks Angie! So you wouldn't get the burgundy ones because of the nose pads? I could look in some of their other stores, but I've now been to three and feel like I've seen most of their stuff (they're chain stores after all). Of course I can always keep wearing my old ones and look some other time.

I could use the 100€ to get the black ones with inexpensive lenses, which would be very little expense. I still have to ask for the concrete numbers, but it shouldn't be much. That way I'd have a pair to change things up with my current pair, or I'd have one if mine finally gives out. The burgundy ones are more of an expense, I think they're probably not the right ones or I wouldn't be hesitating.

I'm going to ask tomorrow if they have the black frames in a different color or could order them.
