So they arrived a while ago and I cannot decide. I ordered two pairs of taupe color family booties from NAS. The Aquatalias and the Franco Sartos.

Aquatalias are shown in pictures 1-4. They are comfortable and well-made! They fit fine without any socks on, mid-day. In the early a.m. my feet are bigger/swollen and the right shoe felt a touch snug. If I routinely wore these sockless, this size 6.5 would be fine. Then I tried them with a not-very-thick sock and they definitely felt snug. Nordstrom has them back in stock in a size 7. But, the NAS price is gone. Worth contacting them for an exchange (and is it even possible to price match the NAS price)? Or, as Angie points out in this morning's post, maybe there IS life after booties... perhaps I should investigate other styles?

Pictures 5-8. Franco Sartos. Ordered them in a size 6 Wide. The forefoot feels good but the heel is huge. This is the second time I have ordered Wide sizes and the overall shoe felt too big. As if, wide means a wide heel and ankle too. I returned them but am leaving these pictures and review anyway, perhaps it's of help to others.

Thoughts/opinions?

I would call Nordstrom and ask for an exchange in a size 7. You will get the NAS price. You will be charged when then send you the new (size 7) booties, so you can wait until you receive them to see whether the 6.5 or 7 fits you better.

I also vote a larger size in the Aquatalias. I'm sure they will honour the NAS price.

They honoured the NAS price when I exchanged a couple of items in-store last week.

Actually, the SA I was working with entered the items as returns, then had me purchase the new sizes - still at NAS pricing. Not sure how she did that.

I like them especially the color. Are they waterproof? Definitely get the NAS price in the right size.

My other suggestion would be to investigate booties with higher shafts - but it's not an either or. You LIVE in black booties on the farm so this Farm Fashionista is allowed to have multiple pairs of boots.

Yes, absolutely they will give you those Aquatalias in the larger size at sale price! It's not a problem to make exchanges if they have the size.

I really like the taupe on you -- what do you think of it?

And, in answer to your question on my thread -- I TOTALLY saw what you meant -- that is so fascinating about the effects of the flash. I will have to do an experiment without the flash if I can.

And, also, if I may say so, your legs may be "middle aged" but they are also super fab.

I have the Franco Sartos but I'm kinda on the bench about them because they are a little low. Now that I see the Aquatalias I like the higher height of those. I've tried ordering wide sizes before and find, like you said, the heel is also very wide. It doesn't work if you have wide toes and narrow heels.

Thanks to all of you for responding to my thread! Angie/Carter/Banoffi/Robin/JAileen per your advice I called Nordstrom. I talked to Mary, who gladly exchanged the booties for a size 7. I didn't even need to give her credit card info. I hope they work. Sometimes a half size up is perfect, sometimes it just doesn't fit anymore, we'll see.

Jeanie -- it looks like we have the same type of feet. I will continue to try wide widths but as of yet have not found a size W shoe that works. European shoes usually fit me best, as they are cut a bit wider but without a wide heel.

Style Fan -- the jeans are from Rag & Bone. The wash is Sheffield. I normally wear a 27 in Rag & Bone skinnies, but sized down to a 26 in these. In the photos I just put them on after washing, they do slouch/stretch more from wearing but in a most delightful way. Some jeans stretch in annoying ways (baggy butt, always having to pull them up etc). But these don't. This wash is from a few years back and I think it's been a best seller for them. I am surprised you can still get it at Revolve. If they had it in a 25 I would buy it (to achieve a true skinny fit).

Suz -- thanks for the compliment on my middle aged legs. And I'm glad I'm not crazy in seeing how the flash emphasizes the legs.

I think you made the right call to try the 7 because that looks like a great boot. I really like that shade of taupe. Is it suede?

Susie the boot is not suede, it is weatherproof leather. It seems like such a quality product, and I like the weatherproof aspect as I don't have to be as precious here in the country (gravel, dust, mud, stickers, generally uneven ground but not much rain!). 2016 is supposed to be an El Nino year so we have a 3 in 5 chance of having decent rain.

I much prefer the first ones because they look like they fit better. I already called them about exchanging a NAS purchase for the same item in a different size and they said they absolutely would.

I also prefer the Aquatalias. I find the brand to run slightly snug, so I'm crossing my fingers the 7s work for you. The taupe is really nice.

And yes, those jeans are fantastic and you have great legs!
