Sigh...I have been a longtime Lucky subscriber, and I do see what you're saying. I thought the September issue was pretty disappointing, but then I thought they bounced back a bit with the October issue (I personally loved the brights/yellow/tribal/Aztec spread). I am going to stick with them and see how the new editor settles in, because I haven't found a decent alternative. When it's good, it's very creative and interesting, and never too bossy. I like how they combine things and do a bit of a high-low mix. I could really do without their city by city shopping guides, and their make-up content, but I still like how they style clothes.
I heard lots of people raving over Bazaar, so I got a subscription, but I am not really a fan. They seem to just recycle the runway looks in their fashion spreads (e.g., a head-to-toe look by Balenciaga in some pretty scene, followed by a head-to-toe Marc Jacobs look, etc.) and their tips/trends reports seem sort of "finger wagging," like, "you'd better do this this season, or you will be OUT." They also seem repetitive: They have been trumpeting red clothes, accessories, etc. for about the last 3 issues! In Style has gotten less celebrity-focused, but they still go on and on about the celebs (do I really want to see a guided tour of the Kardashian sisters' closets, and all of their tacky shoes?? No.) in a way that I find unpleasant. Just about every outfit they feature seems to include sky-high platform pumps, which is really weird to me.
So, bottom line, I hear you, but I am sticking around with Lucky for a bit longer, with my fingers crossed.
