Anybody dressing up for NYE?

I’m not getting a chance to wear my gold lame leggings this year - no company party! New Year’s Eve plans are Last Jedi and venturing into the cold so my brother can take photos of the fireworks. I’m thinking of the gold lame and pompon slipons, all obscured by ankle length puffy and beanie. A complete outfit wreck, lol. I should throw some diamonds over my Puffy and call it a day, right?

I should also, right, nip into a pub while my brother is out there... yes?

Hi Rachy, we've been invited to a "Sparkles" ( or "Sparkling" or "Sparkly") party. Email not to hand of what it's actually called. I'm having a little trouble thinking of what DH can wear. I can find plenty for me and have mostly worked out an outfit as I have several sparkly choices! Thinking of a black and white shirt for DH with a sort of marbled design, it feels a bit like a galaxy to me.

DH and I are going to a small get-together at his cousin's house. I'll be wearing a pair of sparkly ankle pants that I made myself, along with a sparkly top (not too much sparkle I promise), and gold shoes. The weather is going to be beyond cold (around zero) so I'm wearing my long puffer coat, LL Bean boots, big scarf, and fluffy earmuffs - and I don't care how that looks, at least I'll be warm!

I always celebrate my Birthday with family and friends at home. It’s casual, so not getting dressed up, but they always make me wear a birthday crown!

Going to a holiday/birthday party Saturday night and to a friend's for NYE. Problem is I can't wear what I planned as I fell and am temporarily in a boot and on a knee scooter. No floor length dressy dress or skirt for me ( which usually only get worn NYE) was with my luck I'd get it caught in the wheels. Luckily it is almost over and more of an annoyance than anything,
So, I 'll be in something less dressy. I'll have to amp up the jewelry. But no long necklaces as one got caught on the handlebar.

We are staying in and having our year old grandson for a sleep over. Our outfits are matching pajamas. I will add my diamond rings and earrings until bedtime. After that, matching jams will have to be exciting enough.

I'm going to a New Year's Eve party. There will be about 80 people and it should be fun. I'm thinking about wearing this dress. I'm not sure about the shoes - there will be dancing.

I’ll be wearing pj’s and trying to get my infant to go to sleep, probably, ha. She currently thinks that 11 pm- midnight is a good time for in depth chats. I do have a Boden dress in the mail that I hope to wear for future dressy occasions though.

Go for the gold lamé! (And puffer, of course.)

I'll be dressing up at home in the evening and making a simple meal. I might wear the striped skirt again because it's kind of a Suzy Homemaker shape.

But before that, I am going out for lunch. I had not yet considered my outfit for this -- thank you for the nudge! It's insanely cold here so my new puffer is the obvious topper. I will also need very warm boots but will wear the La Canadiennes since they are slightly dressier than the Uggs. I am thinking...red military jacket, bling, high waist dark wash jeans.

I'm not going out in the evening, but I'm taking my CASA kid out to lunch, for Christmas. I don't know where he wants to go. He likes Buffalo Wild Wings, which is not exactly my style. I think they have at least 60 TVs on the walls tuned to various sports, and their menu runs toward fried stuff. I'll dress nice but not fancy. Our time together is coming to an end. I've been his CASA for seven years. When we met I was taller than him. Now he's 6'3" or so. He ages out in February. Please pray for all kids in foster care.

DH and I used to volunteer at our little theater and we worked the new years eve party. It was a dress up affair. We do not volunteer there now so for the past two years we have done nothing on new years eve. This year we are going to a party that we have never been to before. The invitation says nothing about how to dress.Not sure how dressy it will be. but I am going to wear a velvet skirt black cami under a gold lame cardi, semi sheer black tights with black suade block heel slingbacks. Just ordered these black booties, but they will not come in time to wear them. These were on sale and will fill a wardrobe hole of colder weather dressy footwear.

I would love to put together something like this inspiration pic I found years ago. My red platform sandals would like to get out out for a spin this NYE and I have close proximations of the rest. All I need is a fun destination!

I am going to friends and plan on wearing the outfit I took for my son's wedding rehearsal dinner. I did not wear it because dinner was very casual. A Caslon Cardigan that I changed the buttons to gold, gold and black skirt and black booties with gold heel. I will probably add black lightweight tights.

Wear some sparkly earrings or other jewellery on top instead! Or a bold lip? I plan to dress my look up like that, even though I'm just going to a local tavern for NYE drinks, haha!

I vote for wearing the gold lame leggings with the puffer. Go for the bling too. Of course, this advice comes from someone who wore gold skinnies for Christmas Eve dinner with family. For NYE I will stay at home for dinner with my parents, and I will wear silvery grey pants, white blouse, silver loafers, and some bling.

We have been invited to a neighborhood cocktail party and a game (board games) night. I think we will go to the game night. If so, I plan to wear my gold lame' jeans probably with a black cashmere pullover and black booties, gold jewelry.
You should wear your gold leggings and add some sparkle to your beanie, maybe go at the puffer with a bedazzler

I am. Tentatively planning a metallic silver velvet pleated skirt paired with a grey fitted/banded sweater that has a black lace v neck, silver heeled oxfords and a pastel double strand of pearls w/ diamond & pearl studs.

Another vote from me for Gold Lamé with copious amounts of puffy bling!

Rachy, I always think there is something luxe about ankle-length puffers--they remind me of full-length fur coats. So I vote for diamonds!

Bonnie, what a great dress! I would try all possible footwear with it, then go with the warmest, most comfortable pair that still looks good.
(But it's freezing where I am, so that's influencing all my choices.)

Always Trying, I have been getting a lot of use out of a similar pair of black suede booties for dressy/casual wear this Winter. They just make sense, somehow.

J"Aileen, my heart aches when I hear the term "aged out" applied to such young people. I imagine my own children being turned out to fend for themselves at that age. I wish that young man strength, love, and an extra portion of luck to carry him forward.

I'm going dancing at a very casual venue, so I will probably just wear my Madewell sweater dress and some faux leather leggings. I'm not quite sure how to dress: we are having some extremely frigid temps, which means if I dress for the outdoor weather, I'll sweat to death when dancing.

Bonnie: love your outfit! As a mom with kiddos, I prefer to just stay home with them, than go out and party, been there done that when I was younger. I love staying home now, nice and cozy. Been watching "Cable girls" on Netflix. It's so funny, it's a show in Spanish dubbed in English. Just finished watching "The Crown", on Netflix, absolutely stupendous~ I love my home and family more than anything money can buy.

JAileen: Yes I will pray for you and for all kids in Foster Care. What a wonderful thing you are doing! Those kids depend on you and so need your love! It;s awesome you love them! I would love to be a foster mom too~ I cannot imagine women with no kids, all they have to focus on is themselves, me me and me, right? How sad. You're doing such a marvelous thing, God Bless You~

I spent Nye evening with my in laws playing settlers of Catan with the Cities and Knights expansion we gave DH recently. I wore the dress below, though this photo is from another day, with my workhorse short sleeved red cardi for chillier moments.
We were home before midnight though, and I was asleep around 11. Got up today to do a special new year's day parkrun

I wore a sparkly sweater and metallic pink scarf. I put on large dangly crystal earrings and we had a raclette and fondue feast (at home). I was asleep by 10:30PM. I awoke to the sound of noisemakers, but didn't want to leave my warm comfy bed so I listened and went back to sleep. I'm a party animal can't you tell? I hope you gave those lame leggings an outing!

Aha! Another person who does fondue and raclette at the holidays! We are dairy heavy here, and follow up the cheese with ice cream! Lol! And how can I overlook the eggnog? My best friend steels himself for the dairy fest every December.

Almost forgot the gold lame leggings. Admittedly, I just threw them on. Only went to the movies then talked to my lawyer for two hours about movies then watched DVDs at home all night long. And ate birthday cake for my brother, like 20 days late. Haha!
