Anthro keep or return, ETA: Squee!

I went to Anthro today and tried on three skirts, and bought two.

I got this skirt (didn't take a picture): http://www.anthropologie.com/a.....le=Reviews

I've been toying with the idea of shorter red shorts, but I don't know if I'd be comfortable baring so much skin, esp since the skin on so much of my legs isn't so great, so this I think is a better substitute.

And then I'll let you play a guessing game, which one of these did I keep? And did I make the right decision?

ETA: I got the midi too: it was reduced today, from $79.95 to $39.95, and with the 25% off, I got it for $30! So it all worked out so well! It isn't online anymore, so I wouldn't have known that it had been reduced otherwise.

Hmmm...they are both fab on you! The first is a tad longer but a versatile print. I also know it's silk, because I tried it on a while back. The second one is shorter, and quite a jaunty print :). I don't know tons about your style, but I'm guessing you went with #1.

hmmm...I actually kept #2. I loved the print on #1, but felt the shape was a tiny bit less flattering than #2 and that the midi-length would require me to wear heels since I'm not tall...and of course, it's silk, so that makes it harder to care for than cotton. But I really liked #1 as well, so I could swap (if that skirt's still there) if you think #1 is much better for me...

Is there anything wrong with #2? It's not as versatile of a print, but I have lots of tops that would go with it, including the one I'm wearing.

I knew you kept #2 and should have said so! You do not like to wear anything that is remotely more voluminous than it has to be I find #1 extremely pretty and retro - which is why I prefer it. But rest assured, #2 is just as fab!

I love #1---I think you can wear flats with it; I like the oxfords you are currently wearing!

Angie: you do know me well But the material had a huge role in it too. As it is I have too much "nice" clothing for my lifestyle--I love silk, I love patterns like the one on that skirt (I LOVED your DVF skirt you wore inspired by your mother), but then I end up saving them for special occasions that don't come around (and that I have another 20 things I could wear then anyway). I think two years ago I would have bought the silk one and then rarely worn it, but YLF has helped me think more about how I'd wear things...

Still, this skirt caught my eye the first time I laid eyes on it a few months ago, so I'm still feeling somewhat tempted...

I really like #2, it's a fun skirt, perfect for hot summer days. I can see it with a white tank on super hot days, a white shirt for slightly more formal occasion and a denim jacket for cooler evenings, so fun!

ETA: I am trying to learn from some of Angie's blog posts how to mix in my more dressy pieces into my day to day life. Her coral jeans and suit jacket are a good example, and recently she wore a lovely skirt on a trip to some island to work with a client. It reminded my of a gorgeous silk skirt I have that I manage to wear once a year...

I was hoping it was #2, because it is such a great skirt and looks totally fabulous on you.

The red skirt is OK to me for a super casual look, like running around with white keds and a slouchy tee, but it does not look super flattering to me. I wish we could see it on a real person.

I'm so tempted to go back and get #1 but I'm not sure that's wise financially. Thanks for your comments, everyone!

Scarlet: I've become dressier in the past two years but I still feel that a skirt like in #2 is as dressy as I can get in day to day life.

Lori: I'll try to model the skirt tonight! I thought it looked pretty flattering on me...it looks better in person than it does in the Anthro picture.

All of them are beautiful and each has alot of style and function for a certain part of your life I'm sure.

I adore the lighthouse skirt. It has such a young, fresh, edgy vibe.

Totally keep the orange! I have to go this week to return some pants I ordered that just didn't work and may look for that skirt (and maybe the sailboat one too). I'm new to Anthropologie so my fingers are crossed for my online purchases. The stores are just not in places I normally shop so I don't get there much, but for a sale like this I really should make the effort, thanks for reminding me.

Update - I returned the 2 skirts I mentioned earlier, but found the orange one at my store! LOVE it!! I also added a silk fish print in yellow/coral/pinks. How are you styling the orange? I have it on today with a blousy vneck white tee and metallic flats, but I imagine there are more interesting ways and I really want to get some wear out of it.
