I'll pop back later to read the other replies, but I love the sound of your list UmLila.

My list is:

A burgundy bag

Burgundy slim pants

olive slim pants

A couple of mid-weight sweaters for transitional Autumn days.

I love the olive pants you posted. I am looking for a pair. I am looking for:

A poncho or cape

Hiking type boots -- I like the Timberland ones but Keens has some cute ones

Jeans -- Faded but not distressed and higher waist.

Denim shirt to replace mine that is almost worn out.

Down vest in olive green or mustard yellow. Some colour to wear with my sweaters that are warm colours. Vest should be shorter and not too puffy.

I'm looking for a pair of flat shoes that can handle some weather but aren't booties, ballet flats, or sneakers, and are not black! I just rejected a pair of Oxblood colored monk strap oxfords by Aquatalia because they looked more black than Oxblood. I wanted something a little lighter in color.

Top of my list is always a blazer. That's a HEWI item though. Elusive, and near impossible to find. I keep trying though. I have a grey corduroy JCrew blazer on pre-order. I'm hopeful.

Style Fan, which Keens do you have your eye on?

I don't have much on my list as I'm on a weight loss journey. Having said that, I have BR black skinnies and a Gap jacket on their way to me. It's taken me years to accept that I need a wardrobe of coats/jackets for my climate. The missing piece is a warmer jacket for transitional weather.

I wouldn't mind a black or ink poncho and a pair of knee high cognac boots. I'm always on the lookout for casual tops - something more than a tee but not as fussy as a blouse.

I'm intrigued by burgundy bottoms. This is not a colour I wear well but am open to adding because my bottom choice in winter is very limited - skinnies/leggings that tuck into boots all the time!

I love that Acne boot style, too, Denise. I bought those aquatalias and returned them, in order to hang on for something a little more standout looking. The color is great, though.

I'm getting lots of inspiration here...maybe too much ;). Thanks for starting this great thread, UmmLila. I'm looking for casual shoes to diversify my collection of boots, booties, and more booties. LisaP inspired me with her mention of quilted Bball style shoes yesterday. Platform sneaks sound like a good option in our weather.

My wish list is rather specific:
A silk or silky plaid shirt that canbe worn with burgundy jeans but not matchy.
A black sheer silk shirt. (replacement)
High waisted faded but not distressed jeans or maybe in black
A light grey sheath dress with sleeves that is at least 40 inches long..
Rich cognac or burgundy flat booties with almond toes.
There are pieces that may need replacing but I don't know yet.

Fun to see what you all are considering. Denise, I saw those Acne booties in Amsterdam (although in black) and resisted even trying them on because I have enough black/dark neutral booties!

The only things I'm keeping an eye out for are a new pair of burgundy jeans to replace my old, too-tight ones that I passed along, and some sort of top or sweater in forest green.

I did some playing in my closet last evening and grouped all my non-summer things into transitional, fall, and winter collections. Seeing them all together made me realize that I don't have many lighter color pieces for fall/winter though I did just get ivory ponte trousers (WHBM) so those will help.

I like Diane's idea of a burgundy bag...maybe that would be more useful than burgundy jeans.

I am unpacking after my trip and glanced at my sweater shelf in my closet -- only to be surprised at how completely dominated it seems to be with grey and black. So, no more grey or black sweaters for me!

Here's my longing-for list:

  • Black flare jeans (on order from UO)
  • Quirky black booties (several pair on order now; some already returned)
  • My forever HEWI: an elegant, long, sharpely-waisted and rather wide-skirted riding jacket that doesn't cost >$1000. I am not a rider, but I just love the look, whether it's in style or not.
  • A heavy, hand-knit-in-the-Aran-Islands sweater/jumper in a color. We are visiting there in October, and I am scouting shops that will have the real deal. Ideally, it will be long and have pockets.

OK, all of you are making me think I might need some burgundy jeans!

I have been wanting gray skinny jeans for the last year and camel dress pants for even longer. I do think they are more available this year. Maybe I will even get them in my petite size.

I want a quilted jacket for cool days. Something to throw on and go. I have bought several, including J Crew's downtown field puffer. One size looked good but felt bad, the next size felt better but looked bad. I just need more ease across the back so I can stretch out with my arms comfortably. I've also bought and returned one from Lands End, and a quilted Barbour utility jacket. I loved the Barbour which fit very well. I just didn't like the greasy feel. So far, the Patagonia Ultralight down jacket is winning. Not much style, but very comfortable. If anyone knows of another jacket I should look at, I'm open to suggestion.

1) J Crew
2) Lands End
3) Barbour
4) Patagonia

I love those pants, Ummlila. Calf length boots would look really good with those. I'm surprised that calf length boots (that just come up the calves) are hard to find for you. Here in India, that's the most COMMON boots design, and taller boots that end a little below the knee are harder to find!

Here is my Fall/Winter list:

1. Burgundy handbag

2. A red or bright blue thigh length coat

3. Black ankle length booties with 1.5-2" heel for bootcut jeans. I don't want wedge heels and I want walkable boots with almond toes that just peek out of longer hems.

4. Olive corduroy pants. I like to wear only corduroys, denim or ponte pants in winters....and corduroy only on cold cold days.

On a different note: I see that many of you are looking for burgundy jeans! I bought one last winter but wore them only with black on top. Wasn't very versatile. What else do you guys think will look good with burgundy? I'm afraid my winter wardrobe is dominated by neutrals too....a lot of black, navy, grey and some pinks.

I have been pinning for fall (not pining) and have been seeing a lot of plaid in burgundy/navy combinations that I am loving. From pants to shirts to big scarves. It makes me wonder if plaid is still going strong for this fall but in a larger version than last year.

I am also thinking about getting a pair of black legging/jegging with faux leather accents. Deborah has posted fab outfits with this type of pant as the base piece and Shannon posted a pair that was quite appealing. I am thinking something in a combination of ponte knit and leather/faux leather to add interest.

Like Rambling Ann, my top priority is for practical things, especially waterproof boots, so the fun stuff will have to wait a while, unfortunately.
I don't need anything in particular, so I will just see what comes along as the season unfolds. I'm quite excited at the prospect of choosing something that just calls to me, but I'll have to be patient.

Jailene, I like that patagonia puffer. I understand the need for good gear items. I don't know if you live in a very cold climate (I do), but I like to get a better quality, thinner puffer to wear under another jacket.

Cheryle - I saw some of those mixed media leggings at BR, I think. They're cool!

JAileen, Patagonia vests are fun if you get a bright color and narrow fit and layer under another coat.

And Maneera, I want not only calf height boots but also fitted or even calf sucking, which is harder.
