The plan was to get what I call “school shoes”: good, basic black lace-ups or low cut boots in black, brown, or navy that I can wear pretty much every day, with everything. Those would be first. Then later on I’d get red boots, maybe a better-quality version of the blush pink ones I had last year as a test case, maybe something like the bright red Topshop boots with oversized grommets Angie posted about a while back.

But I just haven’t been into it. The gorgeous Pikolinos I picked out aren’t available in my size, and the rest just make me shrug. Something has been telling me to skip over those sensible quotidian shoes. After all, I do have several pairs of black shoes that fill that bill, each purchased when I traveled North for Christmas & realized I didn’t have appropriate footwear. Took me several years in a Florida until I didn’t have to buy a new pair of shoes ever trip. They are all basic black, very versatile styles that can be worn with skirts or pants. Yawn.

I finally decided to listen to that voice and go ahead with red boots, maybe bright red, or maybe like some of these I saw the other night.

Today I realized that little voice in my hand must’ve been Angie of the Red Boots.
