Starting to think about what I actually want. I've been thinking of getting another pair of blush boots to replace the cheapos I had as a test run last year. I should probably think of the two purchases together, and get one slightly more stompy, the other slightly more slick, one with a bit more of a heel than the other. So I waded through tons of pink and red ankle boots online last night.
Starting with inspiration: there is something about each of the shoes in photos that I like, although I don't think any of these are exactly "it".
There is something about these ridiculously pointy shoes that appeals to me. What is it, and would I wear boots that had it? Part of it, I know, is that heel. The double buckles also turned out to be a theme in my picks.
The topshop boots with cutout have appealed to me all fall. I recently saw some shoes at Nordstrom.com that they must be copies of, or, more accurately, have seen several pairs of burgundy boots with cut-outs that must all be cousins. I don't think they could actually work in my wardrobe, am trying to figure out the "essence" that could.
And the Angela Scott shoes. Her shoes are tdf, and way beyond my budget, even at the clearance price of 40%. Some of them are too slick and polished for me, but I think I could handle a pair of these with the
double straps. If only they were boots & not shoes (she has similar boots, but not in red. Or in my budget.)
Getting more aspirational: boots I'd actually like but can't afford. Of the dozen or so I tossed into finds, my top two are the pink Timberlands with tooled leather, because if I'm going for stompy and a juxtaposition, why not reach for the classic, and we all know I love details like that leather, and the Unisa Edwin, which is almost too polished and has almost too much "stuff", but stops short in both cases. Unfortunately, my wallet won't allow either, much less both. While I'm talking about what the heart wants, I can't leave out these brocade beauties from Nordstroms. Also beyond my budget. Sigh. Y'all help me watch for sales, ok?
Moving down to the
possible, the Tamaris and Mustang finds are reasonable facsimiles of the Unisas, but I don't know if either of them would really be red, not just reddish brown. There are two styles by Earth at the Rack that might work for me. If I got any of these, I'd want to find blush pink ankle boots that are slightly more refined and have that slant heel, like the ones at the end, but with more slant and for less money. (I like these, and they aren't expensive, but velvet in the city in winter? I don't think so

Going the other way, here are red options with a little more refinement and a little more of a heel that could work if I the other pair is the less expensive version of the Timberlands. (But I'm not sure if I want TLs with basically no shaft). The Pikolinos in pix 3 & 4 of the original post also belong in this category.
