An awesome watch (but I don't need it, right?)

I am so tempted by this:

It's teal! And gold! It would go with everything I own. Plus it has a cool map design on the face. And it's for a good cause!

But...
It's a unisex watch. That means probably 95% chance the band will be too big for me. Not a dealbreaker in itself as links could be removed.
But also...
There's a reason why I don't own any metal band watches. They're heavy, and they won't stay where I want my watches to stay (above my wrist bone), plus they bang on my laptop and scratch it up.

So I don't need it. Right? Right???
But if anyone who doesn't have my issues with a watch is looking for one... I will live vicariously through you!

Also, PS - Dear Mr. Kors, please make this watch face with a teal leather band. Pretty please with a cherry on top.

Many watches with metal bands can be fitted to have leather instead. They just take that one link out and insert the pins for a leather strap. There usually isn't a difference between most watches.

Whoa. It is pretty fab! My metal band watch doesn't bang on my laptop. Surely if you have enough links removed, it will stay out of the way.

Ceit, I had thought about that... I am anal enough that I would want an exact color match for the band though, and I'm not sure I could find it.

Carter, I have small hands which probably has something to do with the laptop problem; even my leather band watches, which stay put above my wrist bone, do hit the laptop on the bottom edge but since the leather is soft it's not a big deal. My laptops are both MacBook Pros, which are metal. So metal banging on metal = not good. My husband removes his metal band watch when he works on his. (It's actually not the watch he's worried about, it's the computer. I think he banged up a previous one pretty badly.)

Just what Ceit said. You can add a leather band yourself. When I browse for watches I don't pay attention to the band, because I know I can always change it.

ETA Okay we crossposted. If it has to be that exact shade it is difficult of course.

Now I want it too! I'm no help here. I have a watch problem. But I will say my MK is the heaviest watch I own and it's the tortoise so not even as heavy as metal.

I have a tiny 5 inch wrist and wear a mans watch. I love its hectic oversized look. I wear it like a bracelet. Get the watch. xo

Angie, I don't wear most big bracelets for the same reasons. They bonk on things and slip down too far (I can't stand it when my watch or bracelets touch my hand). The only bracelets I consistently wear are cuffs that I can push up above my wrist bone.

My giant Ted Baker watch has a leather band so it stays put. I've never found a metal band watch that stays where I want it to. I like the "hectic look" as you put it but it's so impractical for me. I am not willing to take my watch off every time I have to do things like type and cook (which is what my husband does with his). Sigh. Jeanne's experience that MK watches are really heavy does not bode well for me. The leather Ted Baker watch I have is about as heavy as I can handle (it's around 40mm diameter I think, but the metal part on the MK looks thicker).

If I got this one and wanted to wear it more than just occasionally, I'm almost certain I'd have to swap out the band for leather as Ceit and Astrid suggest. And I'm not sure I'm willing to do that at this price point unless I can find the perfect band (which is a big if).

Sigh... I *know* it is impractical. But it's so pretty!

ETA: Bad webcam shot of my watch to demonstrate what I mean when I say I want it to stay above my wrist bone. Anything lower on my wrist drives me insane.

Why don't you just order it to try. I have a few MK watches and do not find them heavy.

Wow, that is a gorgeous watch. I share your love of teal, so even though I never wear watches, I'm now also lusting after that one! Could you take a picture of the watch to places where you might look for a band to try to find one that matches?

*swooning* The teal face with a map print make it really beautiful and something you don't see everyday. I vote to order it and give it a shot at finding a leather band that will work.

I love that watch and am very tempted to get one. It is my favorite color and heavy watches feel very right to me even though I have skinny wrists.

Man, you guys are not making it easy to be good and/or practical! I will think about it some more. Although now I am wondering given the price point if I should actually be looking to just spend a little bit extra and get something with a sapphire crystal face. They really do prevent scratches so much better than regular watch faces. (My Movado, which I have been wearing at least once or twice a week for more than 10 years, is still totally unscratched. Given the amount of abuse I inflict on it, this is amazing. The same cannot be said for my much newer Ted Baker watch.)

I will not be an enabler, hee hee. Diana, you listed quite a few possible problems with the watch. I am the same way about watches--it is hard to find one that fits properly. If you just stumbled on this watch without having actually been searching for a teal watch, I would *start* searching for a teal one now that perhaps comes with a matching band or has the other type of crystal face. Is there a danger of the MK watch selling out in the meantime? You could always go back to that one later if you don't find anything comparable that has less red flags.
