Alllllll the Blazers - an update

As you will see, I've spent the bulk of NAS collecting and trying on blazers. Historically, I've found fit tricky (with my full bust, broad shoulders, and apple-ish waist) and just haven't felt comfortable in them. When my SA brought them into the dressing room back in July I wasn't sure, but now they look fresher than knits to my eye and I'm fully on-board with the look.

I've since collected a slew to choose from. Many are Angie's Picks. In all these photos, I'm wearing the same white shirt, Hudson jeans, and black clogs. They are all comfortable and feel like they fit (mostly size 10, my usual size). Some of the sleeves will need alterations, which I am happy to do. Photos 1-9 are the traditional blazers. Photos 10-15 is my attempt at the '80s long blazer look. This is harder than it seems on a 5'1 person and I'm not sure any are right.

Please let me know if you see any sure winners -- or sure losers. Also, do you like the blazers open or closed (or both) of me? Thanks!

1-2: L'Agence Kenzie.
3-4: 1.State Windowpane Blazer. Angie's Pick. No buttons on this one, so only worn open.
5-7: TopShop Blazer. Angie's Pick. I'm concerned about the white buttons being limiting wear in my climate. Also, it's similar to the VB in color. Angie's Pick.
8-9: Veronica Beard. Angie's Pick. Love the tweed and black piping.
10-11: BB Dakota Plaid City Blazer. Tried this when I was concerned about the wide chest opening of the 1.State that comes next.
12: 1.State Ruched Sleeve Plaid Blazer. Angie's Pick. This is the M and I need more room in the shoulder (it's coming in L). Even though it doesn't button, the stance of the button is quite low. Does this mean the fit is off and can't be saved?
13-14: Sam Edelman Rib Tweed Car Coat. Angie Pick. Love the color and fit. It's not truly a "long blazer" ala '80s though.
15-17: Bernard Mixed Media Leather Moto. Angie Pick. I'm kind of between sizes, but I think I prefer the L (15, 17). The 16 is the L Petite and I think it's too short, even though the armhole and sleeve length are perfect. #17 shows the armhole drop - does it bother anyone?

FWIW, this is what I see:

L Petite in the moto looks dead right in #16. I prefer the length on you. Cheekier.

#3 and #4 - WINNER. KILLER.

#12 is my next fave. '80s Fabness. Trendy yumminess.

#13/14 - KILLER fit. It's lightweight and fun for Fall.

I like the VB blazer too, but not as much as the others. And not as much buttoned up. And it's not cheap as chips.

I like both of the 1.State blazers on you, too! They look fun and modern, and the shape of the faux-double-breasted closure is so flattering on you!

I love the shape of the double breasted ones, but how often would you wear them closed? The VB would be my pick.

For the longer ones, the Sam Edelman looks more like a jacket than a blazer. Would you leave on or just wear when needed for weather? Color and style are great.

I also like 10-11, and 12. Both look great on you. I’m a more conservative dresser so would prob choose 10-11 since the buttons give a longer line and keep “the girls” in place. I think it’s more what look feels comfortable for you.

First off, I wouldn't guess you are 5' 1". I like the longer body length in the leather moto on you. Maybe you are long-waisted even though not a tall person? I can't help you cull any of these jackets because they all look fantastic! Like you said, minor sleeve alterations only. I never wear jackets closed, so that is my preference on you too!

I personally like 1, 8 and 10. But 8 is pricy, so you’d need to really love.

I really love the 1 State windowpane on you, but am obviously biased.

I also really love the P L moto in photo 16.

I have to agree with the consensus so far. The windowpane blazer is an absolute winner. I am also fond of #12 and the moto looks fabulous on you.

Wow!! Great collection- my comments, without having read the others.

1/2: Biased, because I loved this in the catalog. Almost nabbed one in my size, but decided the amount of wear I’d get didn’t justify the price. But, I love it on you. Fabulous color.

3/4: Cute, fun, and for the price, I’d keep it.

5-7: Probably my least favorite. The fit seems off in the sleeves

8/9: Love the VB on you. If you keep only one of the “higher end” jackets, between this and the L’Agence, then I’d keep this one.

10-12: The 1.State is definitely a winner, of the longer checked ones! Love it on you!

13/14: Great fit, and hangs beautifully.

15-17: I like the petite. At first I couldn’t see the difference, but the arm drop is better on you in the petite.

LOVE 3. That’s my fave of the lot! Both long blazers are awesome! That style is gorgeous on you. Love the Bernardo and think both look fab but Angie likes the petite so that’s what I’d get!

Boy, do you look great in blazers. I like most of these on you. My least favorite is 10-11, and I'm not sure about 12. I love 13-14 for the unusual long jacket look, though. The color is beautiful on you, too.

You wear the double-breasted style so well; I like all of the options here, but especially the windowpane (3-4) and the red plaid (8-9). If the white buttons on the red checked blazer bug you, that's an easy thing to change. You could switch them out for a pewter or antique brass look, for example.

The moto looks great, too. I don't have an opinion on size, though.

You have so many great choices, really you can't go wrong with any of them.

My absolute favourites are the leather jacket - love both on you, so which ever size you prefer. Personally I would go with the petite because I think the shorter version will be super cute with dresses as well as how you have styled it here with jeans.

Next favourite is the VB tweed - so lovely. I love the red, love the tweed and the ability to add the dickie. If I got my hands on that jacket, well it would not be going back.

My least favourite is 12 because I don't like the scrunched sleeves. They look contrived to me and just too trendy. That is probably just my issue with sleeves, and definitely better to listen to yourself - what items make you thrilled because they are the ones to keep.

I really like blazers 1/2 (Balmain vibe), 8/9 on you (Chanel vibe) and 13/14 suit you very much too. There is something elongating about those three jackets and the dominance of vertical lines, rather than horizontal lines, flatters your petite height. The leather jacket in petite is a winner too.

I like them all, but the windowpane edges out as my very favorite. I love 13 and 14 and if the color suited me the way it suits you, I would have ordered it after seeing it on you. And the long 1 State looks amazing as well, but I’m clearly Team Long Blazer.

Re: leather jacket - both sizes looked fine to me, so I’d defer to others who prefer the petite.

Thanks so much for all the feedback on my blazer haul. I don't plan on keeping them all, so here is an update. The TopShop and BB Dakota have already been returned, and the windowpane will be kept. I love both the Leather Moto and car coat but will see if I reach for them as the fall arrives, as I have similar items already. I'm still waiting for the next size on the 1.State long blazer -- your kind words almost make me believe I can pull it off, and I think it would be fun to try!

As for the pricier pieces, I'm going to do another styling session with the L'Agence and VB with some black pieces to see how versatile they each will be. After that, I'll assess. I am hoping one will be a keeper, but at least I know I have the windowpane to satisfy my blazer lust this year.

I also want to make a plug for posting styling photos to the forum. Not only is it great to hear your feedback, but also seeing the photos helps clarify my own thoughts. I urge you to try it if you haven't!

I’m no good at sizing, etc., so I won’t even try.

I see you’ve returned it, but I would have changed the buttons on the Topshop jacket.

I like the windowpane and the moto most too! The double breasted jackets always look more finished to me worn closed.

Huh . You and I have the same body . Finally , someone here to relate to ! I don’t care for the Topshop red/whit check blazer , and the buttons and buttonholes are not done properly on the jacket in 10/11. I prefer the leather mixed media In the longer length too . And wow ! The jacket in the first photo is Kenzie ? Who would have guessed ! Looks much more expensive than that ! Love it on you

You wear jackets beautifully! To be honest I would say it is more a question of style than fit or looks for many of these because they all have potential. I am going to pick 3 and 13 but really that is just because I don't know how bold or not you like to dress.

@lisa p - L'Agence is the brand, Kenzie is the style. So you are correct - it's more expensive than Kenzie! Good eye.
