Aline leather skirt- should i go back for it?

This season I have been wanting a leather skirt while fully knowing that I have no great use for one in my life and they would be a difficult fit.
I came across this a line one and found it interesting. It is also available in black.
What do you think? Buy or not?
If yes what color?

I don't know, Celia - I love the idea of a full/A line leather skirt, especially in a color other than black, but I'm not loving this on you. I think it may be a bit TOO full for you, or too long. Maybe it's the angle of the photo or the pants around the ankles (tee hee) throwing the leg line off. I'd like to see it with bare legs (or tights) and heeled booties.

Agreeing with Linda that this particular skirt is looking a tad too big/full/long... but that may be the camera angle. The color is divine though.

Linda but this is how I wear my skirts :0) I share your misgivings about the fullness of the skirt especially because it is very stiff.

What kinds of tops would you wear with it?

I'm glad I'm not he only pants-around-ankles shopper - I do that all the time, and my friends laugh at me. But I'm the fastest in the dressing room!

una I would wear it with cropped tops but honestly I see more tops that would work with black.

hmmm, i see others think this is to long, i actual think it is to short. imo, i think the fullness needs to be balanced with more lenght, otherwise it looks too cute/young

Angie featured it not too long ago. I figured the price is right and I'm hoping the length balances out the fullness. Since I'm 5'1", it should hit me well below the full part of my calf. Midis above my calf can look quite frumpy but YMMV.

Note: When I want something and my size has sold out online, I make a printout and have a B&M make a search. The sweater jacket I'm wearing now sold out instantly online, but one was available in the whole U.S. and was sent to me from Alaska. Call me a loyal Nordstrom customer!

Just be cautious that pleats accentuate the hip, so if you have a fuller hip, stay away from pleats!

Just take off the pants, add a pair of skates and you're good to go. Just kidding, but I do not love it. Maybe in black.

I like the idea, but the proportions of this one seem a little off to me. I think kkards is onto something about the length being a little too short for the flare with the stiffness of the leather. I'd pass on this one but keep an eye out for one that is more obviously a keeper.

I see the potential in this, but I'm not sure anyone can give an accurate opinion without seeing it styled. It makes a HUGE difference, IMO, what you have on your feet and what top you have on. For example, I started to wonder why I never, ever bought a dress or skirt when I wore socks. Then I discovered that wearing socks made my legs look awful in skirts and dresses, and if I took the socks off while trying on the dress I was far more likely to love it and buy it. Technically, the socks didn't affect the fit of the dress itself one bit, but they changed the look so drastically that I couldn't see past it.

That's my long-winded way of saying that I'm not sure anyone can truly remove the bunched up pants and the top you are wearing from the equation of whether you should get the skirt. Bring it home and style it intentionally and I think you answer will be much clearer.

I vote no if it is stiff. This particular style combined with stiffness of the fabric adds too much bulk IMO.

I like it. And I like it on you. I think anything longer would overwhelm you as this is quite flared and stiff (but, how stiff?). Speaking as a pear I'd wear this sort of skirt by default and I am actually on the lookout for something that would be the cold weather equivalent of my summer white linen flared skirt and I'd be interested to see if you keep this and how you wear it.

I think the styling would make or break the skirt:) I would go for black. This particular colour is a bit bland. And the black will in a sense reduce the look of fullness (I know that doesn't make sense but it's how the darker colour looks to my eye). I would go and get it. Style up some outfits for us.
