Go for it ! I bought one a few years ago and have used it several times as people really seem to like the sweater theme for things

This is mine and I picked it bc there are some elements I like.. though I wouldnt wear it any other time of course . Lol

I have faith you can style anything in a pretty way

You are not asking the right person here,l have 3 festive jumpers and one Halloween themed one but none of them are ugly!Like you I started off cheap as something to wear to a “do”but I ve got classier now(l like to think!)why don’t you do as Angie suggests ,you never know you might be hooked like me.

Take an old tee shirt or sweater, and hang xmas ornaments all over it. Glue on some tinsel as well. Add a strand of battery powered fairy lights.

I think Cardiff is adding a #6 to your list: buy a sweater you can use again (as in option 4) but skip the “ugly” part. There are lots of lovely Fair Isle sweaters out there. Why not get one of those, grin and nod gracefully if anyone at the party calls it “ugly” as a compliment, and enjoy wearing it non-ironically in the future?

ETA. I enjoyed this basic Lands End sweater for years. It is a men’s large, so was oversized on me. This year, for the first time, it is a perfect fit for the babe in my arms here.

Thought about fair isle too, and aww ds is the sweetest! Figure id look like a linebacker though with all that attention called to shoulders.
Im sure i can find something-seems like i have many options.

I'm sure whatever you decide to do will be brilliant. I look forward to hearing all about it.

You've got great options here. I would invest as little as possible in a sweater to wear with the pencil skirt, or ornaments for sweater or dress. You will rock this!

Completely unrelated to seasonal sweaters, but this shop still makes me think of you every time I pass it. The whole store is things in your colors. Notice that even the red dress in the background (ie, not the line featured in the display) is your red.

I know the feeling - costumes and holidays can mean accumulation of stuff........ in saying that there are ways to make it work for you and have fun as everyone has suggested. I like the thrifting idea or the decoration idea....

My son has to have a costume next week and I am working it out at the moment to avoid throw-aways.

Last year I DID see a girl in an ugly Xmas sweater that looked fantastic. She was sharp sharp sharp. Red - Coca-Cola red - and white snowflake & deer jumper with white boots. Graphic styling was the key.

Sal, start a post about his costume so we can all play too!

Suntiger, so stretch the rules and put the pattern on another part of your body. You can wear these “for real” later, but if you have them on with your pretty party dress, it will be fashion faux pas enough to get you off the sweater hook.

What i’ve done in the past is just to add hideous decorations to a normal sweater. Wrap tinsel around neck, pin on some ornaments made of felt or paper, and you’re all set.

I saw an advertisement yesterday for weird gifts you could BUY for a white elephant party. I thought the whole point of the white elephant party was to get rid of weird stuff you had around the house? Not to ADD more stuff. I agree with your desire not to buy something ugly.
