I’m with you, so just commiserating. Most of my jewelry comes out to play in warmer months. It just seems silly to wear bracelets when I have several layers of sleeves (I run cold), a jacket, and gloves to deal with. Sorry, no help.

LOL Cindy!-))) The post will be published this afternoon, hopefully you'll find some inspiration in the visuals. (And cuddles to your sweet doggy;-)

My choice of winter accessories will depend on whether I plan to be indoors or outdoors.

Indoors: Earrings; long and semi-long necklaces (including pendants); all kinds of brooches; all kinds of scarves; bracelets; colourful or embellished belts.

Outdoors: Sunglasses; warm hats; brooches made of wool or fake fur; big or thick scarves; fake fur boas; gloves in a variety of colours and fabrics; fun bags.

Colourful, opaque hosiery and chic booties can be worn nearly everywhere I go. These or other items in my outfit will often be bookended with bold reading glasses, which I have in multiple colours.

Cat, I need to raid your closet! Those are awesome ideas, and I'm definitely going to try and find some faux fur brooches and accessories. I kind of love faux fur, because it's so reminiscent of teddy bears LOL

Aquamarine, you may not have had any specific suggestions; however, you were helpful. Each of you that drops into this thread to commiserate makes me feel less like the lone ranger. So thank you XOXO

Unfrumped, I hadn't thought about zipper details. I also hadn't thought about wearing necklaces under scarves when I was just needing the scarf to get from point A to point B. Yet it makes perfect sense, since the necklace won't be covered the whole time.

Brooklyn, I'm probably going to do just that with the firefighter medallion. Yes, it's precious to me, but if I wear it inside my clothes, on a long chain, daddy will be next to my heart. Joy has convinced me that I need to wear that one all the time anyway, and wearing it inside my clothes when I'm working solves a problem.

Gigi, yes, I think I am going to see about getting some finer pieces. Not necessarily expensive, but "real" jewelry of precious metals and such. And I could play with makeup, I'm not afraid to do that
and I'm not averse to sparkle. While it may not be my usual RATE sensibilities, I do love the idea of that juxtaposition, that contrast. A smaller sparkly/bling-y piece would definitely stand out against my tougher pieces. I like it!

Lisa, I never liked dangly earrings, they always tangled in my hair and felt heavy and I always wound up taking them off. Small hoops was the biggest thing I ever wore in my ears; so I really am liking the idea of some small fine jewelry earrings.

Lynn, I'm glad you dropped in to commiserate and learn with me. I felt like the lone ranger when I asked the question. Now, I realize that even the women who have it figured out generally had to figure it out (if that makes sense?) So it's nice to know I'm not alone

Mainelady, I do think I should try turtlenecks. Enough of you fab ladies have suggested it that it seems like a no-brainer. And I think a dark, solid color turtleneck could read as "tactical" on days when I wanted to wear my tactical boots and RATE accessories; or it could read as minimalist and elegant with some nice trousers and pretty flats.

LaPed, lots of good ideas! I could do hats for sure, since I need to keep my left ear covered or it gets earache in the cold. Pins/brooches on a hat could make up for lack of necklace under scarf. Leg warmers--I actually have one pair, but I hadn't thought to wear them outside of exercising. I like it! I might have to hunt down some other ones because yes, I do wear a lot of skinny bottoms. And sparkly clippies or even some RATE/primitive ones is a good idea, because they'd also serve to keep hair out of my eyes when working, and be way better than a plain elastic!

Ryce, I did the etsy search and yep you were right. So many options, not enough money to buy all the brooches LOL

Again, thank you all for the ideas! I'm now busting out my memo app on my tablet to make a list!
