Hi all

Suz asked me about my experiences with ASOS and I thought I would share them as a separate post, in case others are interested or would like to chime in with their experiences.

I like ASOS for their range and competitive prices. Also, they do a catwalk demo of most of their products (a much better approximation of how the garment looks IRL). They also do free shipping and inexpensive local returns here. Last year I signed up to their premier membership (around $30). It gives me free express shipping (no minimum), free local returns, early access to sales and some special deals. I got it mostly for the free returns. Free returns are still are rarity here.

Quality is variable. It is often a case of you get what you pay for. That said, I have had good luck with some inexpensive items. I got the sleeveless dress below for $23AUD. I liked it so much I got a second one (one is for home, one is for "good" wear) and a long sleeve version. It is just a basic tank dress but it is a nice fluid fit on me, long enough, and has curved hems (love curved hems!). Great for layering. I also recently got the dark blue chiffon top in finds. I plan to layer it over the black sleeveless dress in spring. It is very gauzy and has a delicious long back slit. I am very happy with these purchases.

I have also had good experiences with their non ASOS labels. I like Shae, Selected, Just Female and Gestuz.

I do think that a lot of the ASOS brand stuff is quite short. Don't assume the model is tall. Many ASOS models are average height - so check that in the item details. I have a friend who is average height and she complains that every dress she buys from ASOS is too short.

As far as sizing goes, generally I have found their items are pretty TTS. I have had some issues with things running small, especially around the hips and thighs. That may be because of my shape. Most of their items are sized in UK sizing, which is different from US (but the same as Australian). I generally take my standard Australian/UK size. Some of their sizing is European (I always size up in European sizes).

I have best results with them when I am looking for something specific. Otherwise I can find the quantity of merchandise that they have overwhelming. I have returned many items and am very pleased with their service.

Anyone else like to share their ASOS experiences?
