Suz sent me the book last year and it was such an incredible, powerful read that I have still not read the last two chapters. I wanted to savor the end at a later time: one of those books that you really do not want to end.

I cannot think of complimenting a book more: this is the only book I have done this with.

Wow, Sona, that is amazing! Thank you so much.

Gaylene, if YLF can make my little book a bestseller, I will be forever in debt to this community for more than my fashion savvy!

But it is a tough thing to do with a book of essays. I still have not sold out my initial print run of a mere 1000 copies...and at the moment, technically speaking, I "owe" my publisher in royalties! (They paid my royalties in one sales period, and some books were subsequently returned by booksellers to the publisher.) It's all okay, though -- it was critically successful and that was what was most important to me in a first book.

This has been on my To Read list. I should just order it already and get it!

Suz, I can't recall if I ever reco'd this book to you, but it was one I read in my 20s. Really fascinating material, particularly for one who is adopted (as I was).

Primal Wound

Have you read it?

ETA: Oh - another recommendation that you might have already read: one of my favorite fiction books, from Anne Tyler: Digging to America. My reader friends were meh about the book itself, but I loved it.

Just a heads up in case anyone else orders Suz's book - I ordered from Amazon, and normally will get my orders within a couple of days. I will get my order, but it's going to take two+ weeks to get here, according to an e-mail I got from Amazon.

I'm thinking this is kind of neat, as I'm imagining Amazon now has to scramble to get the book for me Maybe there'll be a 'run' on this book?

Very much looking forward to reading it!

Heh, that is funny, VC. Probably the publisher has to find them in the Peterborough warehouse. That's where they're stashed. Ceit could go raid the place and get them...

Kristin, I have indeed read the Primal Wound book. But I have not read Digging to America. I've read other Ann Tyler books, though. She use do to be a favourite of Mr. Suz's.

Ha, is your book published through Broadview? I drove by there yesterday by coincidence!

Suz - I'm sure you're on top of this, so forgive me if I'm telling you things you already know. Do you have a Facebook page? Twitter? Are you a member of She Writes? I know it's a lot of work to keep up with all these things, but authors really have to promote themselves these days. Luckily, there are so many avenues for doing that these days. Hopefully the YLF "bump" will help move a lot of those remaining copies!

Hey, Suz, your book is out of stock on Amazon! I think we must have started a run on it. =)

Yay! A run on Suz's book. That's what I hoped for...hehe!

Tara, I have a FB account but I hate FB. I haven't made an author page yet and I don't do Twitter. I spend all my online time (and then some) on YLF! Why? Because it is more fun for me. I am afraid I am not very good at having a writing "career." I mean I do have a paid writing job, but that is different. For the creative stuff, I just want to write it. Which I don't get enough time to do.

But I do see the value of a FB author page and maybe I will start one. Sigh....

I have a long list of books for summer reading, but this one just got bumped up to my next read! It sounds fabulous and the reviews on Amazon are glowing. Way to go, Suz!

Logging in from the depths of family chaos to agree that this book is fabulous, beautiful, and masterful. I definitely need to get you to sign mine next time I see you, Suz.
