Oh, definitely indoors. I'm honestly not much of a coat wearer anyway, though. We spend most of our winter in the 20's (that's about, what, -6 C) and I spend most of the winter wearing a fleece-lined windbreaker and sometimes gloves. I break out the real winter coat when we get close to 0 (-17) and then I add a scarf and the hood. My kids wear fleece jackets most of the winter, too, because really thick coats just aren't safe in the car. We live in a city, but this isn't a walking city at all and while public transportation exists, it's scarce so we drive everywhere and most of the time the we're only outside for a few minutes to walk between the car and a store or school.
