A mini wardrobe crisis

Guess what!! I start my new job in the city tomorrow. Have just driven up to my Mum's place and discovered I had left behind ALL my hanging clothes - suits, blouses etc!!!!!

Will be trying to work out an outfit based on items borrowed from Mum for tomorrow. At least she wears the same size as me!! DH is bringing the other clothes up tomorrow in the day so this is only a one day crisis.

I am sure we will manage. Just wanted to share with friends who will understand

And after days of having to log in to YLF on my phone and it not remembering me, it appears I have managed to learn my whole YLF password off by heart. Minor silver lining!

Ooooh Anne!! I just had to log in to wish you GOOD LUCK on your first day tomorrow!! I bet your heart stopped for a beat when you discovered that a large part of your clothes had been left behind. Definitely adds to the stress-(( So happy to read that it's already been sorted though (yay for a Mum with the same size!). Let us know what you will be wearing and how your first day goes?

Yes. DH to the rescue. He was coming anyway with some stuff. (We will be reunited permanently at the end of the week, BTW) I left all the stuff in this awesome wardrobe at our holiday destination. DH told me he has hidden his keys in their to force him to remember.!

We have found a bengaline layered midi and some sweaters. I have my boots. Not quite the suit I had planned but hopefully acceptable!

Oh, that's definitely manageable, and I like bus rides because they are the perfect way to catch up on some reading.

The first day outfit with the boots and midi sounds great. And you can wear your suit on the second day;-)

I regret to say her dress pants were a bit tight and muffiny. Clearly been doing too much overindulgence while packing/at good bye functions/on long weekend away.Oh well. That season is over.
Thanks for being here ylf. Am a bit nervous about tomorrow and sad about being away from Dh and the DDs.

Oh, Anne - best wishes for your first day at new job! Don't you just wish you could fast forward to where things are more routine?! Glad you found something to wear, and knowing that it's only for the one day is some comfort.

One maybe positive thing about taking a few days to all be reunited is that you can put more focus on new job?

Thanks Sara. You are right. They aren't with me partly to let me to get through the exhausting first week of full time work. They are still on the holiday I left early from but then the girls will be looked after by the in laws while DH does final packing and cleaning. It's all for the best but I miss them anyway.!

Get a good night's sleep and try not to worry (I know that's easier said than done). First days are a bit bumpy anyhow and you've just got to learn the ropes. You'll settle in there in no time.

I'm so glad Mum rescued you with some clothes and that your own clothes are on the way. I'll be praying for you! <<<hugs>>>

You have been planning for this for months, and you have proven that you know how to adapt to unforeseen happenings! I hope and pray that this week is full of encouragement and excitement. As a teacher of performers, I always tell them to welcome the adrenaline they feel as they prepare to go onstage. Accept is as extra energy. Just make sure you rest and restore in the evening as much as you can. When everything is new, we expend a lot more effort to get the day, even when we're very happy for the changes!

OMG, it's always something, isn't it? Thank goodness for your mom and her closet! Sounds like you have averted the crisis and are sorted for the first day, but I know you didn't need the extra "excitement!"

Anne, I hope you are having a good sleep and that by the time you read this it will be your first day in the new job.
I hope it goes swimmingly well for you.
I am having a quiet smile at the irony of your situation, that, after all your YLF engagment clothes should be the hiccup in your first day.
Then again, it's thanks to YLF that you feel confident enough to put together a fab outfit from somebody else's clothes.

That is just the type of thing that would happen to me
Lucky your mum is the same size. It might be fun for her seeing her clothes styled in different ways......you can give some tips on putting together new combinations

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate your kindness. Just reporting back that
the first day went fine, did include a HR session, Thistle! and that I am not nearly as tired as I expected to be.
They told me the dress code was smart casual with no jeans.Which means the guys don't wear ties. I haven't seen enough women to get s feeling for the vibe there yet.

It always takes a little while to get the feel of a new place, but I'm sure you'll settle in quickly.
