Hoping things work out!
I’m empathizing because, foot issues. So increasingly I am getting clothes to go with existing shoes. I’ve never been the type who could just go out & easily buy shoes to match a dress or anything, but now it’s just impossible.
Last fall I found a pair of ankle-strap flats that were comfortable, & duplicated in a different but maybe too similar to be worn enough — being anxious about finding others later. They’re neutral but not exactly toned for some planned outfits , so ok but turned out not to “ go” as well as I thought— that undertone thing!
I had kinda sworn off any new midi skirts for the coming year, since I feel I have enough to make multiple outfits.
BUT then I saw a floral print one online, reasonable sale price, that looked like it combined the exact neutrals of both pairs of shoes, & works with coordinated solid tops I have— so I got it and it works perfectly —can’t wait for warmer weather.
Anyway, hoping you don’t have to return your dress, but I can relate to shopping very intentionally now for dress, skirts, pants or whatever that REALLY feel right with the available footwear, whether it’s flats, sneakers or boots—the colors , vamp, the proportions— instead of wearing shoes that “ sort of” work but look kind of off.
