2024 - my word, colour and wardrobe plans

Happy New Year!!

I am still on vacation and it has been very relaxing and sunny. I feel very lucky.

I have started my 2024 planning - and have given some thought to my wardrobe this year.

I find choosing a word easier than a colour for some reason. Last year evolve was my word and and it was apt. This year I choose grace - because I want to live my life with grace, and give
grace to people who are different to me. In yoga we often choose a word and grace has been coming to mind frequently.

In terms of a colour - I am choosing red. I would like to be brave and bold and red stands for courage. I don’t think this is incompatible with grace - I need both.

In terms of my closet like many others I feel as though it is in good shape. I have a couple of sneaker updates due soon, and I do want a new puffer and blazer.

I don’t intend to change my moniker or style words - (Grown up Charlie’s Angel and bold breezy and elegant). But I want to lean a bit more into the elegant and bold. I added a fair few essentials in 2023 - which of course are always needed- but I would like to add some hero pieces that are both practical and elegant - maybe using texture - to enrich my outfits.

A few specific goals
- tweak my hair - I am not far off but my current cut is not sitting how I want it too.
- look for winter texture - in 2023 I hardly wore any scarves which I had been relying on for winter interest.
- maintaining my current sized wardrobe of around 100 including shoes- but not my gear. This means one in and one out approximately!

I have added in a new swimsuit - tracking has shown me how worn my swimsuits are - and I was in a town today with an excellent range so I tried on several and bought one. It is yet to be worn.

Added a couple of pics of where I am right now which is why I have been struggling to think about clothes. But back home in three days and back to work.

Oh those photos are dreamy compared to the dreary weather outside my house today.
Great swimsuit addition and it looks like you've got some clear ideas about how you want to go forward with your wardrobe this year. Hope it goes well.

I am not at all jealous even though it’s currently-1C here,definitely not ,of those lovely sunny pictures.Your new swimming cossie is a lovely colour and l think red is a lovely colour on you so yes to both your word and colour.Excuse me whilst l go and put another jumper on.

I love the idea of Grace as your chosen word for the year. A friend of mine years ago, who was married to a former minister, said she couldn't understand the narrowness of some religious views, when "there is enough Grace for everyone". That really stuck with me. There is an openness, a sense of welcoming, that goes with that word.

Your vacation spot looks exactly what it should be, a refresher and a respite. And I can't wait to see your new sneakers!

Star - my hair was great in November but I haven’t been as happy since my December cut. I think the layers are a bit short. My hair is quite temperamental as well -oily and wavy -but not curly.

Cardiff Girl and Sisi- wouldn’t it be fun if you could come and visit! We had a dreadful start to 2023 in NZ with flooding and lots of damage. Ruined vacations whilst not as bad meant some grumpy people around so a proper summer helps us prepare for a hard year - we like many places are in a cost of living crisis.

Thanks Roberta - that’s exactly the sense I want Grace to convey. I have been listening to some podcasts that are leading me in this direction. I haven’t bought the sneakers yet but plan to try Hoka and I also want some new fashion sneakers to replace two pairs that are getting very tired.

Thanks Suz - I think there’s that tension between aspects of style that keep it interesting and that’s where the three words help. I never find it hard to be breezy but it can top into sloppy if I don’t maintain some elegance and elevation. I could carry that off my my 20s and 30s but not as well in my 50s - that’s being honest here.
