$166 shoes. Outrageously not worth it?

So I just bought these shoes by Kate Spade for $166. I think they are absolutely FABULOUS, but I also think I am completely nuts for spending that much on a pair of shoes. I'm still debating whether or not to return them and go buy something of better use, as well as the fact that I will be broke for the next month or so. But god, am I obsessed.

Sunnycloud78 they are stunning shoes. My question is how often will you wear them? They look like special occasion shoes. I would rather spend that amount on a pair that I would wear and enjoy frequently. But I do understand your obsession

Pretty, but they definitely look like occasion shoes, although they're very classic and should last you for many years. It looks like they're dyeable, so if you got the white and eventually decide you want them to be another color, they do offer you that flexibility.

Do you have other special occasion shoes? Do they fill a hole in your shoe wardrobe? Will you regret it if you return them?

SC78, I have only recently started buying shoes in this price range (due to increasingly problematic feet) and I feel it's absolutely worthwhile when the shoes are good enough -- that is, comfortable enough, stylish enough, and useful enough in my wardrobe -- that they get worn very frequently.

Since it sounds like these are at the top of your shoe budget, I would ask if they fit all three of those criteria for you. If so, they're probably worth sacrificing other things for.

hmm they are nice, but I don't see you getting a lot of wear out of them, especially given the white color (only works for a few months of the year) and the satin material (not a day shoe)...So you'd only be wearing them when you're rather dressed up on a summer evening, and wearing an outfit that works with a white shoe.

They look like wedding shoes to me, too. :T

Not to say they aren't absolutely *gorgeous* but I think you'll spot something else in no time that will get tons more wear for you dollar.

Well, if you have a big shoe budget, then $166 for shoes you will wear maybe a few times a year is not a big deal. But it sounds like you don't have a big shoe budget, so I'm agreeing with everyone else that these may not be the most versatile shoes for you. They do look like bridal shoes--what do you see yourself wearing these with? Maybe you could try to figure out what it is about these particular shoes that you love, then try to find that in a cheaper, more versatile shoe? The whiteness? The satiny-ness? The little bows? The sling-back style? The pointy toe?

They are fabulous shoes but the satin would not wear well in the weather so really not long term big occassion in my book...

Do you live in a dry climate?

Oh, honey. I've already slid down that slippery slope. A number of years ago, I got a pair of very expensive shoes as a Christmas present, and discovered that it IS in fact possible to have beautiful shoes with high heels that are also comfortable. From then on, I was a convert. It's funny how quickly my idea of what's a lot of money for a shoe changed. It used to be that, in nice shoe shops, I'd pick up a shoe, do a little internal gasp and quickly put it back down. Now I pick them up and think, well, yes, that's about what you pay for a good shoe....

In my defense, I don't spend tons of money on clothing items. Just shoes.

Agree with the others, these do not look like shoes you'd wear a lot, unless you're at weddings all the time.
