Diagonal Stripe Sheath

If you have a straight-ish rectangular body type, this dress will look superb. It’s not one for curvy lasses but it looks amazing on a boyish body type. The drape is great and the geometric design sublime. I adore that strong diagonal stripe. I want one now. NOW.

I own this dress, and, in fact, I am wearing it right now! I really like it, but it took some time for my husband to get used to. He actually advised me to return it the first time I put it on. Here is the problem: I am an hourglass that tends to straight, but I do have some curves. This dress doesn’t necessary fit those curves perfectly. I got the second to smallest size, and it fits my bum and hips, not snuggly, but not loosely either. The top, however, gapes a little, so I couldn’t go up a size. It doesn’t gape so much that you see my bra, but it would be that way if I went up a size. I cannot wear this dress without spanx. I usually don’t wear dresses without spanx, anyway, but, for this dress, without spanx I looked like a busted can of biscuits. Spanx really smooths out the line, and I really love the dress. It’s comfortable, and moves well, and it looks nice in a business casual environment. Even my husband has come around. I’m giving it a three only because I wish it wasn’t so roomy in the bust and fitted in the hips.

I am a rectangle with fairly broad shoulders and no curves, and I usually gravitate toward more structured dresses, but this dress is extremely flattering! The neckline is perfect, the fabric is weighty and drapes very well. It skims over the torso and slightly catches on the hips. I love how the stripes help create curves and movement. I only wish it were a tad longer, I am 5’7” and it hits me a few inches above the knee, but it is still work-appropriate. I also tried the next size up, and it still looked great with a looser fit, but the armholes were too low.
Thanks for the recommendation, Angie! I wouldn’t have thought to try it on my own, but now I know I am going to get a ton of wear out of it.
