Rainy Day Style

Today Style United is featuring my article on The Best Umbrellas, in which I suggest umbrella styles for different weather situations. Umbrellas are more than just a practical item that keeps off the rain — they are an accessory to my outfit. And I get a lot of practice sporting my umbrella style on the damp streets of Seattle.

Bubble umbrellas always make me smile, and I could probably use a sturdy style like the GustBuster for windy days. It’s fun that they are available in other colours too, I do love how a colourful umbrella (or a dot or stripe:-) adds a bit of cheer in the rain.

We lived in the desert when I was a little girl, so to me a rainy day always seems like a party! LOVE the pics above, and enjoyed looking through your umbrella picks. Drooling over the Burberry plaid one! These days I am enjoying an umbrella with a fun print of ladies shopping around the border! Big fun!

I am going shopping now for an umbrella very soon as we will be having rainy days withing a month now….and I definately need some rain boots like yours!! I also loved the red coat. So WOW!!! walking in the rain was what I always hated but not anymore now with those boots and such beautiful umbrellas.

I never thought umbrellas could be an accessory. I always took them as necessity and tend to buy them in dark neutral colors. Not anymore……..my personal fashion myth has been busted today. Thanks YLF and thanks Angie.

Congratulations on the article, Angie! You take the utilitarian umbrella to another level, actually make it a fashionable accessory. Here in Southern California, it seldom rains, and as MaryK points out, it’s almost a “happening” and quite fun to use rain gear. There are some who use umbrellas here to protect themselves from the sun. In fact, I’m going to a race tomorrow and will take one of my umbrellas for sun protection! Thanks for showing us the beautiful ones in your collection!

I’ve always loved colorful umbrellas, but unfortunately, I tend to lose them I had a gorgeous Marimekko one that I bought three or four years ago – it was one of their colorful, big flower patterens, but it’s gone now….. anyway, it’s really fun to see your pics – it looks like you hold on to them much better than I do!

I have several umbrellas, and I usually carry one with me, but I find them somewhat impractical because I live near the coast and it is often very windy as well as wet. I’m still on the lookout for a stylish, foldable rain hat.

I popped into Target today and saw the cutest umbrulla.It is yellow with CAT EARS!

Must have. Not a need but … it is SO cute I bought it anyway.Most of my umbrullas aren’t really all that cute -more like a neutral(black,green,burgundy,beige) Besides being fun ,colorful umbrullas are practical -they make you (the pedestrian) more visible when visibility is poor.
