Zara bomber jacket arrived too!

It's bomber day. When i got home tonight, the Zara package had arrived too. This jacket is very different from the Leitmotiv one I posted this morning. The fabric is more substantial and silky, whereas the Leitmotiv one is more like nylon windbreaker fabric and very lightweight. This is reversible too. This one is embroidered rather than printed, and it's quite a bold pattern. Very pretty though!

The length is much longer -- the hem reaches my crotch, but because of my hips, it does ride up a bit when I zip it up and move around. That's not a problem, so to speak, it's just what happens with any banded garment of this length on my body. The sleeves are a little short, but I'd probably scrunch them -- they seem short on the model as well.

I like this jacket too! It's a totally different vibe from the Leitmotiv, so I'm torn. I feel like I would enjoy wearing each of these jackets, but they have different uses.

I've had a long day and am pretty tired, so I'll have to wait to put together some stylings of both jackets for comparison. I just put this on over a black tee for a few quick snaps. I wanted to get your initial impressions in the meantime. I have a busy next couple of days, so I may not get to play with these jackets until Sunday.

Mmmmm. I prefer the shorter one. My eye isn't adjusted to this longer length in a bomber, and I like the pattern and color scheme of the Leitmotiv one more. That is just me, of course...

It is very hard to compare the two because they are so different. I like this one better, though. I prefer the contrast arms and the Asian-inspired print. I prefer the almost letterman style of this one over the banded style of the other (which doesn't actually strike me as bomber). What does it reverse to?

I'm totally torn. I love the length of the other one but the motif of this one is soooo pretty.
I'm going to give it a sleep.

ETA: Ok, I vote for the yoox one. I like the length better.

I'm torn, too. I like this one with jeans, but I predict I'll like the cropped one with skirts and dresses. I really love the sporty stripes on this one!

Team Letimotiv. Tough on though, the second one has such a striking image on it, like wearable art. But I think the shorter cut is more flattering. Could you size down in the Zara one? They are both exquisite.

I think I am Team Leitmotiv as well. The print on that jacket is exquisite and its cropped length is so flattering for your figure. I do like this Zara jacket, too, but prefer the first.

Hold on; you're going to get feedback you never got before in your life.

But first, I like the other jacket more in terms of fit; it highlighted your tiny waist and I just think this style of jacket looks better cropped on most people.

For me, personally, the pattern on this one brings to mind something a yakuza would wear. Japanese hubs was in agreement. I suppose that in Baltimore you would not get others making this association.....

Get the other one, which I liked a lot.

I like this one as well, but I think I prefer the other. So different from each other for something incredibly similar, if that makes sense. I'm more drawn to the floral pattern of the Leitmotiv. And I think with your long legs you pull off the cropped shape really well.

Ha, just scanning through the comments and there is no consensus! I might like this one better for the boyfriend fit it has.

But, I think it will be good to get full length shots to compare.

They are very different from each other, and I think they're going to have very different ways they'll look best for you.

I guess we need to know how you plan to wear the jacket(s). To me, you can pull off a long bomber due to your super long legs, and am wondering if the cropped one would make you look disproportionate -- which is the opposite of Tina's thinking, lol.

I'm looking forward to seeing styled photos of the two jackets side by side this March.

I too am torn. Right now, I think I prefer the shorter one though. Plus, it will be more unique. Zara things have a way of becoming ubiquitous.

But I could change my mind tomorrow!

Janet just checked out the other one in your prev post. I like the Yoox one best. I prefer the pattern and tones and the shorter length. Take this with a grain of salt though as Im not vp crazy about bomber jackets.

Tough call as you say. They are different enough for it to be confusing but not so different that you'd want to keep both.

I would say it would depend on what function this would serve & whether you want the jacket to have staying power - this one is trending but I get the feeling the other shape is more you in the long term.

Maybe you are going to have to show us both jackets in the same post, styled in ways you think you might like to wear. They are both beautiful pieces and you are beautiful in them, which makes it hard to choose.

color me surprised because i too like this on you much better. your body gives the bomber the structure it was missing on the model.

much much better looking on a slightly curvier girl than the models.

This fit does look more current to me, without triggering the "borrowed someone else's coat" vibe that I get from some oversized jackets.
It's interesting what mochi said because I have to admit the back triggered a reaction in me that it looked somewhat specific and sub-cultury (although I had no subculture in mind!). Sort of like an old 80s satin rock band jacket if you know the kind I mean. But of course much nicer than that I think it's much more of a statement item.

Thanks, everybody! Wow, so interesting to see the range of opinions. Also interesting that everyone seems to like both of them, but the opinions on which one they like more are almost evenly divided.

I am hoping Angie chimes in, even though I know she's waiting for me to post some full length outfit pics. I probably won't have a chance to do that until Sunday.

I have a feeling that somehow the Leitmotiv one won't date so easily. The Zara one seems more trendy, even though I suspect both have some longevity as unique statement pieces. Mochi and Jules, I understand what you're saying about the Zara jacket -- it is definitely more of a "look" which doesn't bother me. It's a bit edgier and makes a bigger statement.

I suspect that the Zara might be a little less versatile for me, but I could be wrong. The color palette of the Zara jacket is a little more challenging for me to work with, since it's heavy on gold, but at least it's a soft gold. The Leitmotiv has more colors in it, and a quick glance in my closet tells me I have a few tops that would go with it, color wise.

It is worth noting that these two jackets have different seasonal use for me. The Leitmotiv one is so lightweight, I can wear it spring, summer, and fall. The Zara one will have to hibernate for the summer -- it's much too warm for our mid-Atlantic heat and humidity. The Leitmotiv one has enough room under it that I can layer a little more under it to take me well into fall.

Ideally, whatever jacket I get will work with jeans as well as skirts/dresses. I suspect that will depend on what tops I layer underneath. I wear jeans so much more than skirts and dresses. However, now that I'm thinking about it, in the summer I move towards my shorts and skirts more, as jeans are often too warm, and that changes the proportions I'd be working with. Hmm.

This is tough! I actually really like both of them. I wish I didn't have so much to do in the next two days -- I'm anxious to play around with these jackets!

But not the easiest decision. This is great for the rock n' roll flare you've got, but the thing that gives it that flare is a certain Chinatown tourist shop vibe. I don't know if I saw it in real life if it would come off cool or uncool...

This is indeed a tough one Janet - they both have such fabulous potential in your wardrobe and have completely different vibes to them.

I will say personally that I prefer the Zara one - which surprises the heck out of me! Somehow the longer length and the design motif makes it more avant garde and edgy to me. But is that what you're after?

Would love to see a couple of side-by-side pics of the same outfit with each jacket. I think it might be useful to get a sense of which one really works best with your current wardrobe.

I agree with others that both jackets look good. Personally, I prefer the other one from your previous post. I'm looking forward to seeing your post with styling ideas for both jackets. Maybe that will help clarify a clear winner.
