About your wardrobe and personal style

Your favourite 80’s music bands

There are many 80’s bands that I adore, but I’ll keep this list to my top three:

1. Duran Duran (have seen them in concert three times, one of them was front row, FRONT ROW! Know most of their songs off by heart).

2. Depeche Mode

3. The Police

Over to you.

I had a feeling Duran Duran would top your list!
Mine:
The Police
Journey (sort of 70's carryover:)
The Clash
The Pretenders
Duran Duran

I share Depeche Mode, but New Order steals the show

Totally agree on the Police and Depeche Mode. Also love R.E.M. (yes, they started in the 80's), and have a soft spot for early Guns n Roses too. :p

R.E.M comes in at #4 for me Michelle!

Prince
Michael Jackson
The Clash
Blondie

There are so many good ones, it is hard to choose!

It *is* hard to choose. I could have given you my top 20 just as easily.

The 80's are a blur of babies, then toddlers, then being a soccer mom. I don't know the bands but i could sing you half a dozen songs from Sesame Street

Posted 2 months ago

1. Aerosmith (yes, I am unashamedly a HUGE Aerosmith fan :-D )
2. Queen
3. The Police / AC/DC

2 & 3 were hard! REM would come in at 4 and Depeche Mode at 5 for me.

It's hard to come up with top 3. Depeche Mode was one of my favorites, and I had a weakness for Culture Club and Eurthymics, hehe. Also the Cure - still like them a lot! Right now I am in Sesame St phase, so I am probably forgetting something :)

This is hard for me as my musical taste developed in the 90's and the music I'm drawn to now is the rock music of the early seventies.

1) David Bowie
2) Roxy Music - Avalon is my mum's favourite album
3) Stevie Nicks/ Fleetwood Mac - still my favourite female vocalist of all time

The first record I ever bought was Grandmaster Flash White Lines

The Police (saw Sting in concert), Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Prince (Purple Rain concert, baby!), Michael Jackson (drove to KC to see the Jacksons' Victory concert...dang, should've kept the ticket stub and t-shirt!), Run DMC, Fleetwood Mac (saw them gratis when I worked for Budweiser).

Hall & Oates, Aerosmith, Thompson Twins (saw them in concert with Berlin), Eurythmics.

Okay...I'll stop now, before I get "disowned" by my family. LOL.

As far as bands go, my top 3 favorites are:
1. Eurythmics
2. The Communards
3. U2

Posted 2 months ago

Queen, Depeche Mode, New Order, Stevie Nicks, and I could go on and on but I think I need to put in one of these CD's into the stereo now instead :-)

Posted 2 months ago

Oh, I can't keep it to 3! My 3 faves are Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, & The Black Crowes.

Also loved u2, Blondie, Heart, Guns-N-Roses, Def Leppard, Poison, Motley Crue ... countless others.

Posted 2 months ago

1. U2 is hands down my favorite band of all time
2. The Eagles
3. Queen
I could be stranded on a desert island with just these albums and I'd die happy. :D
I was born in '81 so missed a lot of the great stuff the first time around, but both my husband and I own more 80s (and 70s) records than current ones.

1. Cocteau Twins
2. The Smiths
3. The Cure

Though only a few years younger than Angie I was not really into popular music in the 80's. My musical memories are from singing in the school choir or in school musicals! In about 1990 I bought one of those army surplus coarse weave bags that were all the rage and that you would write things all over. I remember my cousin helping me do it and trying to find even one bands name that I liked to put on it! (I put the Proclaimers, because I liked that song "I would walk 500 miles")

I did like the soundtrack to Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion, and even bought it ( I have bought less than 6 music CD for myself in my life) and I gather that is mostly 80's music.)

OK so I was a square, as they called us in Aus.

My Dh likes U2 and I listened to a lot of their music, as he only had about 4 CD's with him (overseas) in the first year or so of our marriage.

Hm, it's hard to narrow it down! Here are some, in alphabetical order:

- Def Leppard
- Depeche Mode
- Guns N Roses
- New Order
- Rush

Like Sarah i was only a tot during the 80's, so these are mostly ones i like cause my parents played them when i was younger. These all have a current i-pod space

Genesis/Phil Collins
The Eagles
Bon Jovi (were they 80's or early 90's not sure) x

Posted 2 months ago

In no particular order:

David Bowie
The Clash
Skinny Puppy
The Pretenders
U2

I'm sure there's lots more, just those ones come to mind right off the top.

During the 80s, Depeche Mode and New Order were definitely my favorites. These days, I like Prince and U2 more and more - they have aged well.

Posted 2 months ago

1. Pearl Jam
2. Green Day
3. Nirvana

MWAaaahahahahaha!

Abba, Clash, Cars, Madonna, Bowie, Squeeze, Depeche Mode, B52s, Elvis Costello, Blondie, Hall&Oates, Police, Devo, Dire Straits, Kinks, Hooters, george thorogood, stray cats, pink floyd, Tom Petty, ZZ Top, Michael Jackson... aaccckkk! .... I can pick only three???

I guess some of these, like Abba, are technically 70s bands. Abba is one of my top all-time favorites - the bands I have and never will never tire of, the music I would want if I was stuck on a deserted island. That list would also include Paul Simon and Elvis. Probably Madonna and Dire Straits too.

This is really tough. I like different bands for different reasons. I would say when I think of the 80s, I think of Michael Jackson, Madonna and the Clash. That was the soundtrack for that time of life (college) for me. I remember cranking up the Rock the Kasbah in our dorm room and playing it over and over and over again for hours....

Hmm...are we allowed to pick a solo artist too? Then George Michael would rank up there at #1 with Aerosmith. I would be hard pressed to pick one over the other. I luuuurrrvee them both :-) For our last anniversary, we gave each other front row (well, a few rows behind the front row) tickets to a GM concert. I swooned like a school girl :-D

I didn't really have "favourite bands", lots of "favourite songs" though, many of them by artists/bands I see here: R.EM., Duran Duran, Eurythmics, David Bowie, Depeche Mode, Prince... I'll add Yazoo, Kim Wilde and INXS.

It wasn't until the late 80's, early 90's that I really got into music, started buying lots of cd's and developed an interest in more obscure and alternative bands (am still there now;-).
