Your favorite elasticized flats

We had a cold snap finally! By cold snap I mean mid-upper 70’s. This has been a serious wakeup call for me though, similar to the one I had just before summer. I am wearing ballet flats even though I shouldn’t be. They are causing me excruciating foot cramps. But I feel like I can’t really do without them entirely and while I would like to replace them with oxfords, it made me realize that they are just not a substitute.

I think I can still wear elasticized ballet flats since they won’t slip off my feet and cause my toes to instincitvely bunch up. I like this idea more than mary janes just because my heel still slips in MJ’s and I prefer a clean, strapless look. So I call upon the forces of YLF to please share with me your favorite elasticized flats. I’m looking for dressier (smart casual minimum), well padded flats that won’t dig or be too narrow.

I 2nd Maya's call for info! Ballet flats are #2 on my shoe list.

Not cheap but I've already heard good things about the Tory Burch Reva flat.
I got the Attilio Giusti Leombruni's at the NAS, have yet to wear them but unfortunately they're even more expensive.

These aren't flat-flat but they're pretty close - the Guess Lawri wedge flats that Angie recommended in the spring. The backs are elasticized and they don't slip off my feet at all, and I like that they have a very, very low wedge to them. I wear them all the time and they're very comfortable.

I like Me Too flats Maya. I know they make elastic back styles.

@ annagybe (or anyone else who knows)--I also bought the Attilio Giusti Leombruni's that were on sale. But I wonder about the sizing? Are they true to size? I went up half a size but heard they stretch out. Should I return for my regular size?

I sized up 1/2 a size on the AGL's on the recommendation of the sales person. But the reviews on the Nordstrom website are all over the map depending on the style.
I haven't worn them yet so I can't judge stretching.

love these apapezza alvar flats in gray. it has a bluish cast. very versatile and on sale. runs a teensy bit small.

I always thought that I couldn't wear elasticized flats because they always seemed to hurt when I would try them on. Now I realize, I just need to size up - way up! I have one pair from AT that are a 7 1/2 (and I normally wear a 6.5). I tried these on the other day and thought they were surprisingly comfy - I am contemplating getting the red ones and slipping my superfeet insoles into them:

They have a cushy insole and the leather is super soft. I don't know how they would hold up with alot of walking which I know you do, Maya. The reviews are overwhelmingly positive though.

Michelle it's the classic ballet flat by Tory Burch. It has her logo, quite large on the toe. It's circular with two T's on it, one right side up and one upside down. The logo comes in black, gold, silver, and I think I've seen other colors. The main shoe comes in various colors and textures.

Ha, Tory Burch and AGL flats are not helping Maya any!

Wish I had a more ideas to add for you, Maya, but i don't. When it comes to elasticized flats, the only ones I've tried are the AGLs and the Me Toos. I ended up with neither and have a couple of Cole Haan flats (not elasticized, so not what you're looking for).

I find the Tory Burch Reva flat very uncomfortable. It's not soft at all! But then I do have very fussy feet.

My Via Spiga's and Me Too's are partly elasticated. Love them.

Maya, I tried on a pair of Me Toos in the DSW store recently that were *very* squishy and soft on the bottom. They were crinkled patent with a flattish bow placed diagonally across the toe box. Very similar to these except the bow wasn't straight across.

I have been thinking of you as I opened all my windows for the first time in weeks, during this cooler spell!

I own far too many pairs (think maybe 6 in different colours- white, black, brown, ballet pink, steel blue and violet) and just adore them- super super comfy. The ones in the link above are my favourites. The fit is snug and you can tighten them using the the bow on top.

This is a crisis situation! I have one pair of shoes that work for this weather. Just one pair. And they aren't really that versatile (the Anthro oxfords).

I guess Me Too is my only option even though I don't like how they are completely flat and how their elastic styles look on my feet. Style names would be greatly appreciated.

Also, are matte black ballet flats boring? I like the Me Too Nickis in pewter but my size is gone. Only black is left (i don't like the other colors).

I'm a total Me Too convert thanks to ylf. Have 4 pairs and am desperately wanting some more to replace a few pairs of ballet flats that have just died. If only they came in purple and green!! Maya I think black is a good basic colour to have....works well with black leggings and a coloured dress amongst many other things of course!

A heads up on the Gap City Flats mentioned above .. I bought the black and red pair and absolutely adored them.

But, yes yes, you know there is a but .. I wore each pair a full day and at the end of the day both pairs were losing their seaming on the bottom. I had developed holes in the sole!

These are more like slippers than shoes. The sole is a plastic sole that is stitched onto the tops of the shoe. It is not an exact fit either, there is an inch or so all around them that is exposed leather and if you don't walk exactly on the plastic sole you will wear out and tear out the seaming.

These shoes would be fantastic for indoor wearing on soft surfaces but if you are walking on pavement and other things I would think you'd want to give them a pass. I ended up returning both pairs (with a HUGE hassle).

Oh I forgot to add that I find the Me Too elastacised pair I own fit a lot smaller than my other Swanns. The Swanns feel a bit too big in 10s once they stretch but the elastic style still feel on the smaller side after lots of wear. They are still very comfy though, just too snug for my liking in the toe. When I get another elastasised pair of Me Toos I will def. try a size up.

Angie, I have tried the Linda flats and the Legend flats from Me Too. The Lindas are actually not elasticized enough so they continued to fall off my heel. I was bummed because the red color and the style was so perfect.

I didn't like the look of the Laytons on my foot. Looked like bedroom slippers but were surprisingly snug. I could not try on a half size up to see if that helped. My store is perpetually understocked.

I'll try the Lucca flats and the Corso Cormos. How is the size on those? I'm also willing to re-try the Laytons even though I wasn't totally sold on how they looked. I wish they just had a small 5/8" heel and weren't so, so flat.

I can't wear the elasticized flats that have elastic in the heel area without it digging into my heel, but maybe you need it in this area to keep them from sliding. I noticed that the Me Too's Angie posted do not have elastic at the back but the Corso Comos look like they do.

Yikes, Maya, do you consider this a cold snap???? How our standards have changed after what seems like months of 90+ degree humid weather! Good news for your hair though, right???

Ideeli has flats by Penny Loves Kenny today for $39 a pair, they all look like they have elastic, lots of colors.

Maya, have you considered ballet flats with a strap? Unfortunately, I don't know of any styles out there with said strap, but it may be worth a gander.
