Carter, I'd say these are pretty TTS for a boyfriend fit. These are the larger of my regular sizes -- depending on brand, I take a 29 or 30 (although 30s are more my usual these days as I'm not craving the skintight look), and these are 30s. For reference, I ordered a 29 and a 28 in the Big Star jeans -- the 28s fit like regular jeans and the 29s were quite roomy.
I like the length of these, and the degree of taper -- not too much, and not so little that they flop around when I roll them up a bit. Again, whiskering on the hips is not my favorite thing, but on these it's not as pronounced as on the Big Star ones.
My eye takes a little getting used to these shapes on myself. You all know I've got some issues about looking "bigger" in the hip and thigh. These are very comfortable.
IK, I really appreciate your candor. Firecracker, I think this is the right size -- I can pull off my Gap BFs without unbuttoning too, and they work for me, although yes, I do need a belt!
Zap, I totally understand what you mean. I have not been the quickest or the most enthusiastic adopter of BF styles. I can see how they just don't resonate with you. I don't anticipate this is a look I would reach for every day, but it does appeal to me for days here and there, when I just want a change of pace and comfort, especially for really casual days when I'm doing something active like framing, moving stuff around, or even to go out shooting photos.
Thanks, everyone, for all the feedback. I'm going to wear them around the house a bit and see how they feel, and maybe get an opinion from hubs.
P.S. I ordered a new pair of Paige Skyline straights while I was placing this order, since those are some of my most-worn jeans and I thought it might be good to get a pair to help take the stress off my old ones (which are three years old). Long-legged ladies may like to know that the new cut of these jeans, which is pretty hip- and thigh-friendly, is also an amazing 34" inseam! I may actually have to roll them up! The fabric is very soft and comfortable right out of the box. Here's the link if anyone is interested: http://www.zappos.com/paige-sk.....e-cheyenne
