Photographed by Peter Dombrovskis, this iconic image was instrumental in allowing the rivers to run free. It was first published in 'The Australian Newspaper' prior to the 1983 Australian Federal Elections with the slogan, 'Could you vote for a party that would destroy this?'

I'll go first.

Today's photograph was all about the blues, the greens and the water movement.

In the last year's challenge we have had the painting by Picasso that saw many fantastic outfits created around blue and green colors, which was also my main focus at the time. This time I wanted to focus more on the textures and the palettes of color(s) put together.

I'm wearing the same top as in Day 2, teal tee shirt, also my navy flared skirt and the scarf is dark blue. My bracelet has small round pendants in the similar shade of turquoise/teal as is the belt.

The textures can be found in the belt itself, the scarf and the nude hose pattern - swirly, also there to represent the water movement. More reflection of the movement is in the way the scarf is tied - I've twisted the scarf itself, then looped it around the neck twice.

Finally, I've deliberately left out anything white that I'd usually use to freshen things up, because the scene itself is misty. On the other hand, since there is some white in the water itself, at the lower part of the photograph, I'm wearing the bright shoes.

You look wonderful, Ornella!

Here's my outfit, taken very early this morning. It's cold again today and there was rain forecasted, so I had to dress for warmth. And I knew that I would be running around the whole day, so I needed something comfortable. I chose these items because of the colors and I didn't want to wear high contrasting items because the picture is so misty. I thought about the rocks in the picture when I chose the necklace and the bracelets.

This photo struck me with its soft, misty tones of blue, green, and white. Green skirt and bag for the foliage, paisley skirt (even though it's a little big! yay!) because the pattern reminded me of the swirling water, Blue BB shirt for added softness, cream cardi for the hazy sky and churning water, brown boots as fashion-y "hiking" boots for trekking down to this scenic location. And since nature + critters, I am debuting my Italian squirrel pendant! His head is a soft green that goes well with the pic.

These are all beautiful! Rae, I love your necklace! Ana, your striped top is perfect to evoke the movement of the water! Astrid and Ornella, I love how you have used real rocks!

I was going to wear my blue Nine West "magic dress" for this photo, but in light of the "cheating" remarks yesterday I called an audible this morning and went with green on top, blue on the bottom to evoke the trees and water. I like how the ruffles on the neckline of the top echo the leaves on the trees. The pearl brooch and light bag and shoes are for the white water and sky! (Kitty says "hi" to everyone and says she's representing the wildlife in the forest!)

Ornella, loving your use of shimmering tights for the mist, and the twisted scarf for eddies, the stones in your bracelet that marry all the colours... You look beautiful! Those colours are really flattering for you.

Astrid, you have the palette down to perfection it seems! I love the brightness of your bracelet in those calm, serene greens and blues, as sparkly as the wild water.

Ana, love the sheer effervescence of your outfit! Really captures the mood of that rushing, gushing water.

Ray, you look so delightful! Loving that green on you, and the dark fronds and swirls, the woodland references (adore your little squirrel and love that you got your UWP boots into the picture too!).

MaryK, I wish you didn't feel compelled to hamstring your wonderful wardrobe! :-O I certainly can't imagine anyone actually believed you had an unfair advantage, forget cheating. That said, can I just add that you seem to have risen BRILLIANTLY to the challenge, quite literally?

The colors that pop out in this photo for me are green (obviously) and icy, pale, cool greys/blues/whites. The green was really easy, but the icy cool tones were harder as most of my wardrobe is overwhelmingly dark and saturated. I chose a patterned green skirt, green tights, a white blouse with pale green pinstripes, teal handbag, and a grey-green handknit sweater to reprensent the colors. My twisty silver bracelets represent the sinuous, winding motion of the water, as do the straps on my boots. The leafy pattern of the sweater and the small floral print of the skirt echo the intricate, organic patterning of the foliage.

This outfit was better without the tights but it's cold and rainy again today and I did not want to freeze!

MaryK - I think it's no fair to call you for "cheating" when you actually wear your looks to work. There is no cheat there! Much easier for the likes of me, working at home. I can swan around all day however I wish, in whatever crazy get up! You look lovely today in your vivid hues. And hello, Kitty!

Astrid, I'm right there with you re: the mist. The low contrast natural tones are really nice on you!

Ana, you could have emerged from that cool, gray-blue water like a water spirit.

MaryK - I don't think anyone meant anything bad by the cheating comments, but I understand wanting to meet the challenge in a less direct way today. I adore the colors and the pretty woodland cat.

Diana, congrats on finding those soft colors - I had a tough time, too. They look great together!

It's so fun how everyone is dressing based on the same picture, yet everyone is staying very true to their own style!

Here's today's entry. I loved the wildness of this photo and the green-grey-blue mistiness of it.

I'm wearing my Eileen Fisher knit shirt with a grey sequinned tank underneath to represent the rough wet rocks. A green and teal swirly silk scarf. White jeans for the mist and white water. A grey and silver belt. Silver earrings. And the taupe Reports.

Hubs voted thumbs up on this one but I feel a bit overdone with the scarf, which I will probably take off later. I love how these challenges force us to stretch our style muscles, but at the same time help us to identify key elements of our style. Now, ordinarily I love scarves. But tank plus scarf plus shirt somehow feels like "too much" especially since I have to keep fussing with the neckline of the scarf and the slightly cowled tank. Hmmm.

I love all the interpretations an the fact that different people take different things from he same photo.

today was a bit harder for me to pull together than i expected. i didnt have anymore green items after wearing my green tank tuesday and i had a really hard time getting past the dominant colors in the picture to get creative.

blue dress to evoke the water, white shirt to evoke the misty clouds. bronze shoes as the rocks, and brown bag as tree trunks and peacock feather necklace as leaves. i liked how the feather has similar colors and also a veined construction.

This is really fun to see everyone's outfits given the same inspiration photos. I like your bracelets Diana and Ornella, and Rae your skirt and bag are both just fabulous. Ana, i love the fun skirt and stripes to evoke the movement. MaryK is impressive in her bold bright colors while Diana is just stunning in her muted tone look. Suz i love the daytime sparkle element to evoke the rocks... my goodness, I am sure i have missed someone and i heartily apologize for that. Plan to pop back later as see what other fun looks have rolled in!

GX, dying over that ombre denim jacket! I already have a DIY list a mile long, but an ombre jacket is getting added to the end. The jeans look great - I would have never known they were not part of the initial plan.

I wanted more green, but couldn't find any so started with an old JCrew striped button down in greens and blues and whites
I was going to wear Green Halogen skirt, but remembered I haven't had it taken in yet so went for the white linen (Talbot's from consignment) midi
Added Caslon turquoise blazer, navy belt, white watch and back to flats for one more day for my ankle. (They are navy with teal trim and tassels). Added a turquoise chunk waterfall necklace to echo the picture a bit and voila.

I wanted to step up to the challenge for Mr. Dombrovskis, and at first toyed with the idea of wearing a solid olive green satin blouse, but I decided this patterned blouse did more to represent the beautiful, complex image. My skirt plays off of the silvery mist and my metallics showcase the glint from the rocks. So here's my interpretation for today's "Inspired by Nature" scene with a great deal of "pattern-mixing" elements:

Bronze metallic Franco Sarto sling-backs
Fishnets by Oroblu in Sable
Green braided H&M belt
Photo 7 shows some pretty plants at the O.C. Mart Mix, a fantastic place to shop with one-of-a-kind clothing stores, a wine and olive store (for great tastings and appetizers!), coffee/tea bar, etc. It would be an excellent YLF meet-up stop!

Again - so much fun to see all your interpretations.
Here is mine - my green "fern" dress with a long gray linen sweater.
It was so gray and rainy here this morning - less like the inspiration photo, more like sheeting rain. Dark gray tights and gray boots - I might have been able to make other choices if the weather was better!
I added my ocean jasper ring, which is all misty and mysterious like the photo.

This photograph reads very green on my screen, so I am surprised to see all the teals.
This is my outfit today. I don't know why I look so messy in the picture, I really liked this outfit and felt good in it. Also, I apologize for wearing pretty much the same formula everyday (jeans+ blazer or cardi + scarf), but if you could see the state of my apartment now, you'd be surprised I got dressed at all.

Lovely outfits everyone! I really enjoyed seeing how everyone uses their personal "mist" colors in their outfits; the shades certainly differ but all capture the spirit of the photo. Girl X your ombre denim jacket is awesome, and Diana your textures are sublime!

This was my favourite photo. I chose soft tweed pants for the grey of the rocks, and the rough around the edges RATE. Aqua cotton cable sweater for the organic green of the leaves and a twisted white silk scarf for the spray.

Moara (daugher): I wanted to wear blue, even though my mom couldn;t see it in the pic, but the only blue I had was skirts, and it was too cold today (Canada). Instead I wore grey. My scarf is a bit bulky, becasue it;s actually a pareo, I can't figure out how to wear it. Any suggestions?

Anthro emerald green blouse to represent the trees (with navy dots to represent the water), WHBM ink blue jacket and Anthro Liquid Acres abstract print skirt to represent the swirling waters and mist, WHBM ink blue bracelet and earrings remind me of water droplets, and Kate Spade grey croc tote to represent the grey rocks. I wanted to wear the blue snakeskin heels but I wasn't sure my feet could handle a full workday in them so I went with the nude pumps instead.
