YLF LBD Challenge - Ele - YouLookFab Forum

I hope I'm not too late coming to this- I've been super-busy lately! For the challenge I used pretty much the only plain LBD I have (this one: http://i641.photobucket.com/al.....edress.jpg ), though I rarely wear it anymore since it shrunk in the wash. Here are my three looks, in order of formality.

For my "Hanging Out" look, I paired the dress with leggings, my motorcycle boots and a favourite old cardi. I added a big beaded necklace that I wear a lot in December but never during the rest of the year- for some reason, it feels "festive" so it's become my Christmas accessory

Since I mainly work from home these days, the "Work" one is a bit of a stretch for me- but I definitely would have worn this to my old job, or out to lunch. I wore the dress over black skinnies, added some cognac Stuart Weitzman wedges and my Mum's old 1970's braided belt. For jewelry, I had fun with some of my blingy gold chains.

"Date Night" was really fun to do, I wanted to go for a slightly retro glam look. Black tights, lace-up "shooties" and my cropped tux jacket, accessorized with a patent belt, vintage clutch, red lips and pearls!

Oh goodness! Every look is great. I especially love the going out outfit. Hot, hot, hot. It's time to find some place to sport that now. The necklace you're wearing in your hangout outfit is so great. It's a shame it only comes out at Christmas. I'm jealous you can wear that yellow color. I love it but it just makes me look sallow.

The work look is great as is, but you could also mix it up with another color of skinny jeans if you wanted more contrast.

Your date night look is so sophisticated while also being interesting, I love it.

Wow Ele it is so fun to see you again. Each outfit is amazing and had me hanging on a thread to see the next one. You are very talented at styling.
It is not easy choosing a favorite but I must say the combination of the red lipstick with the pearl necklace is killer on you.
How fun that you have your Mom's belt from the '70's. I still have a belt from the '70's too.

Wow! All three are great! The necklace and the boots in outfit one...awesome! I would not have thought that the dress would go so well with jeans in outfit two! I luv the retro glam look in outfit 3! The red lipstick is the best finishing touch!

THANK YOU so much, ladies! Your kind words have made my day (and I'm still in my pj's) Myself, I can't pick a favourite- they all feel very "me", and I can picture myself sporting each one. I think I'll be wearing this LBD a lot more often from now on!

LOL, Louise- you're right about me and black. After I'd posted this, I was thinking "Geesh, I wear a lot of black- I wonder if anyone will say anything?" I think it's often my fallback since there are so few actual colours that I love, that nine times out of ten, I'll buy something in black. Also, it's my Mum's and my boyfriend's fave colour on me, so I get a lot of black things as gifts, too! Good thing I love wearing it, then.

Alecia/Dawn/Maya- Mustard yellow is my favourite "pop" colour. I only have a few items in it (this cardi, my silk blouse, a scarf) but I'm always looking for more!

Marianne- Thank you so much! I love hearing compliments about my blog, since I put a lot of time and effort into it. I'm afraid I've been ignoring it this month due to seasonal craziness, but hearing things like that make me want to redouble my efforts.

Shiny, my shooties are from Nine West, but they're over a year old now. My boyfriend bought them for me as an anniversary gift in Fall 2008 (I recommend shopping on your anniversary ;), and they've since become my favourite heels. The sole is rubber so very flexible and comfy, and the heel isn't a ridiculous height.

I think I saw a similar pair in Nine West this fall, so it might be worth a look.
