YLF Challenge Chain: Bella Challenges Emily

Hi Emily! My challenge for you is an emergency preparedness drill for your wardrobe. Imagine that you find out you have to attend the following occasions and need to come up with an appropriate outfit at the last minute: a somber occasion (like a funeral), a super chic date night with hubby/significant other, and a weekend daytime party with colleagues at your bosses' vacation home. You can do either one, or more. It's up to you!

I'm with Rachy - I can only imagine the look I'd get from my hubby if I uttered the words "super chic date night". He'd be the one who had to go shopping. I'd be excited to dress up for it, though.

A great challenge for us all to embrace... this was my goal when redoing my wardrobe after weight loss... before that every time an occassion came up , i'd have to do the panicked last minute shopping and sometimes settle... I am proud to say styling all three of these would not even make me break a sweat.. Thanks for the heads up to let me know I achieved my goal.. If I was feeling better and wasn't planning a weekend away (thinking hanging out with friends at a beach house isn't too rigorous or going out in public to pick up something else...) I would so join in here and produce three looks...

This looks fun! Emily, I think you're right that the super-chic date night outfit will need to be tested in action. Maybe you can get bonus points for pics of said event?

Thanks for an excellent challenge, Bella! I was feeling ambitious so I hope you give extra credit. For the daytime party with coworkers at my boss' vacation home (love it!) and chic date night (love it more!) I did two outfits: One for if the event was tomorrow, and one if the event took place during warmer weather. If I needed the somber outfit tomorrow I would add opaque tights.

#1: The Somber Ensemble
I chose easy, simple pieces.
BR ponte sheath dress + Old Navy grey cardigan + Nine West pumps + Express envelope clutch

#2/3: The Casual Office Party (tomorrow)
This one's a bit of a trick because the norm at a house party in my area is to take off your shoes. With that in mind, I would wear skinnies and boots but keep some interest on top with the printed top and scarf so that I still look put together sans-footwear.
Silver skinny jeans + Old Navy grey cardigan + Dynamite printed floral wrap top + Ricki's infinity scarf + Aldo slouchy tall boots

#4: The Casual Office Party (warmer weather)
I've assumed the warm-weather edition will be held mostly outdoors. BBQ maybe? Gosh I am ready for winter to be over!
Silver BF jeans + Tommy Hilfiger blue and white striped tank + Ricki's short sleeved cardigan + Coach cream hobo bag + DV Dolce Vita perforated oxfords + Reitmans silver belt

#5 The Chic Date (tomorrow)
If I'm going on a chic date, of course I need to wear my red pumps! I assume DH would be taking me out to a nice dinner and show at the local theatre.
Anthropologie plaid dress + Vintage silver clutch + opaque black tights + Ivanka Trump patent pumps

#6 The Chic Date (warmer weather)
This outfit was the most fun! It was tricksy taking a selfie whilst juggling a wrap and clutch, though
BCBG swirly blue dress + Banana Republic bow belt + Nine West patent peep toe heels + Vintage silver clutch + black and silver wrap

Oh, extra credit for sure! Yay. Love these looks. #4 and #6 are making me long for warmer weather.

Wow - this is fantastic, Emily! i love how you came up with interpretations for different weather. I totally understand that impulse. That's what I would have done, too. I especially love #2 (you are so right about skinny jeans working best for a house party where you need to remove your shoes) and also both date looks. And now, Mr. E. has to take you out! Pronto!!
