Ok, so this was a challenge to be sure. But, for different reasons; I realize I have a lot more "favorite" clothing than I thought- and all for different situations. So finding 5 things for an outfit really made me think as to my reasons for favoring something.
This exercise definitely helped me hone in on my style, as I am still trying to self-define. As an interior designer, I think I aim to look creative, polished and a bit "design-y" (I lack a better word). Dressing is an important part of the job- you want the client to trust your style and your instincts and clothing is the best first impression you can relay. So, that is where my design sense comes from, I realize.
So, without further ado, my five favorite items:
1. Gray w/ black trim peplum jacket. Anthropologie. This is a Christmas acquisition and I'm still playing around with it, but I love that if is fitted, has a peplum and makes me feel polished- and skinny. I wear this for a more "dressy" day at the office or with trouser jeans for business casual.
2. Patterned silk tunic. Consigned. Normally wear this with skinnies, and in real life probably wouldn't work with jacket as it is too flowy to be comfortable under fitted jacket. I like the combo though because it contributes to the "V" factor with neckline and vertical pattern that is visible with jacket.
3. Black knit pants. Alice + Olivia. These were a pre-YLF purchase, but I felt so validated when I saw it was an Angie pick! They fit like a glove and make me feel 10 feet tall. (People always ask if I got my hair cut when I wear them for some reason...?) I recognize PPL is an issue with these shoes, but...
4. Black peep toe heels. Dollhouse. These are just my fun go-out shoes. Too high and a little too pointy heeled on a daily basis, but I love.
5. Cameo & glass bead necklace. Etsy artist. I love the subtle color in the beads and cameo. It goes with almost everything and I probably wear it too much.
Sorry: had to add bonuses.
6. Fall/early winter coat. It just makes me happy and it is very comfortable.
7. My all-time favorite article of clothing- my "sweater pants". This is the most comfortable article of clothing I might have ever owned. I love days in and late mornings just as an excuse to hang out in these.
So, probably more than you asked for, but I couldn't help! I really enjoyed this challenge, thanks Astrid!
PS- I suck as a photographer and a model so forgive the quality of photo and my expression. And my little photo bomber.
