Phase 3
This one was SO much fun!! Ethan was over the moon to be part of the challenge, and he rose to it with enthusiasm! There is no possible way to put together ONE outfit that covers his rules, so I had to do more...
Ethan's rules for dressing:
1. Always make sure it feels comfortable
2. Wear all dark colors (i.e. dark jeans with red or grey) or all light colors together, but don't mix dark bottoms with light tops and vice versa except for white - "white can go in any outfit" (Angie's kindred spirit?)
3. Always wear shoes that go with the outfit. The following are examples of shoes that "go with the outfit"
a. Dark skinny jeans and white shirt should have grey converse, not white or light pink converse (although hot pink would be acceptable)
b. White jeans with a grey or white top can be worn with white converse
c. White converse can also be worn with colorful jeans
d. Skateboarding shoes go with anything, no matter what color "even if you are a girl"
4. Rules for skinny jeans:
a. Don't wear really fancy shoes
b. Wear just plain cons. They can be white, but not completely white - there should be colors with the white. (Red would do well.)
c. Flip flops may be worn with dark skinny jeans.
d. Don't wear a "skinny shirt" or shirts with super short sleeves. Shirts should be baggy or "normal", just not really "thin" (I think he meant tight).
5. Rules for "baggy jeans"
a. They do not look good with converse - "no matter what".
b. They look good w/skateboarding shoes and tennis shoes.
c. Lighter pants with lighter shoes.
d. Dark baggy pants can have any color shoes except plain white.
e. Light pants can be worn with light a colored t-shirt that is "regular sized" (not too tight or overly baggy)
f. Dark pants can be worn with either a white shirt or a dark shirt, but the sleeves must end right at the elbow. (Ethan is as picky about sleeves lengths as Angie is about pant lengths!)
6. Accessories
a. If you're wearing a sweatshirt, scrunch the sleeves up just past the elbow and wear one bracelet on one arm (apparently more bracelets are too cumbersome if you get cold and need to put the sleeves down).
b. If you're wearing short sleeves, it is cool to wear lots of bracelets, but you must wear about twice as many on the arm you don't write with (don't wear the same amount in each arm.)
d. If you're wearing flip flops (flip flops "don't have to be all blingy") you should wear a "foot bracelet". (If you are left handed, your wear it on your left ankle.) "Foot bracelets actually look really cool!"
There you go... Style according to an 11 year old boy. By the way, these are his actual rules for dressing himself. He adheres to them fiercely ("foot bracelet" and all) but I had never heard him list them out!
#1 - Baggy pants, not too tight top, scrunched sleeves, too and pants are both in darker tones, one bracelet, and definitely not converse.
#2 - Skinny jeans, tonally similar top, short sleeves with lots of bracelets (more on my right hand), converse.
#3 - Skinny jeans with white (per Ethan and Angie, always appropriate), comfortable shoes, but I took liberties with the jewelry and did my own thing.
#4 - Ethan's own style
#5 - Gratuitous Father's Day pic of my loves...
