Yet another person copying the Jcrew metro coat

1) Regular size in Heather Majestic Purple
2) Petite size in Vibrant Flame
3) Shamelessly copying Angie by wearing the red coat over a cobalt blue dress. Don't think I won't break out the black/white scarf, black boots and tights next time.

I already have a black winter coat and a green/blue/black Desigual coat.

Assuming I can price stalk/ebay it, which size/color works better? Thanks!

Wow! Those coats are amazing on you. I don't know very much about coat fit but it does look like the petite fits you slightly better through the waist and in length. Are you petite? I'd be hard pressed to pick a color. I LOVE them both on you.

The first (blue) one seems to fit a bit better in the shoulders and sleeves. Are you layered up under it? I like the blue, but it's hard to say without seeing your face. Great coat!

Kelly, I'm just under 5'3". I'm shortwaisted but my shoulders/arms are "standard" size. I usually fit best into petite tops/dresses and regular size pants/jeans/skirts.

Claire, there's enough room for a sweater or top/cardigan underneath but not a jacket. That's as layered up as I would ever get.

The waist on the petite hits my narrowest point and the regular size is a little lower. I do prefer the sleeve length on the regular.

I also vote for regular size, because of the sleeve length. You can't go wrong with the color, I think.

Gorgeous coat and while I think you could do either color, I find my self swaying towards the blue. I think it's lovely against your dark hair.

That blue is KILLER on you, Sylvie!! WOW. In my opinion, better than the red. Definitely regular size.

I was choosing between these two colors and the green one, and ended up keeping the red, but it was a hard choice :). I already own a navy coat, but not a red one, so I decided that I'd rather have the red, because navy is too close to blue. But both colors are lovely, just decide which one will fit into your wardrobe better.
As far as petite/regular is concerned - the only difference that I see is sleeve size. I personally prefer my sleeves longer rather than shorter, so just go with what you personally prefer. Both coats fit great. This is such a great piece, thanks to Angie for posting about it. I don't think I would have decided to order it based on the JCrew website pictures.
Good luck with Ebay, I ended up using a 30% off promotion that they had going on.

Argh, so I just retried the coats on again with a bulkier underlayer and I have much more room in the sleeves of the red petite size (because it's a size up) than in the blue regular size.

Are the sleeves of the petite too short to work? I think having the extra sleeve width is important for me.

Kellygirl: Yes, I'm pretty sure the regular will be too big a size up. I have the measurements from Jcrew and the waist would drop by 0.615 inches, which means it's going to start to hit the place where I get wider.

I did love the idea of a red coat but I agree the blue is a much better color on me. I suppose I am a blue/red and not an orange/red person. Going to keep stalking (fyi, the price now is 225 with 25% off).
