Yay or Nay -- Red purse EDITED w/ alternative bag picture

I'm on the fence with this purse! Keep votes yay, return votes nay.

Pros -- love the way it looks.
Cons -- this is a big one. It is too small to hold all my stuff, I need to be able to put a hairbrush in my purse for my long hair. In picture #3 I have it filled and the stuff on the side wouldn't fit. Basically, no room for any make-up or grooming items.

I'm already a member of Gilt! So I looked. I like the Gilt purse since it's more functional, but I like the style of the one you posted here. So I guess that means keep looking...

Despite my love of almost ridiculously large purses, I really like this one! Maybe it's the foldover or the chain strap?
I recently purchased a large red purse and although I love it, it's definitely not an everyday purse because of the color. So if you're willing to use this one occasionally (like for evenings out and the like), then I'd keep it. But if you want a workhorse/carry-all, then I'd keep looking! I found my Kate Spade red purse on MEGA discount ($100 down from $400) at Neiman's Last Call outlet.
One other thought...Sephora carries these nifty round brushes thats collapse into almost nothing (smaller than a compact) so maybe you can just downsize some of your essentials and still make use of this bag?
In short, if it's just the color you love, I'd keep looking--red bags abound. But if it's the overall shape, size, style, etc, then I say keep it and make it work for you!

Thanks for weighing in everybody. I am still torn even though most of you are against me keeping the bag. I guess I'm a little in love with it!

The bag was around $60 incl. shipping. Is that too much for an occasional-use bag?

I posted a new picture up top of the Paul & Joe Sister (a French line) alternative bag. It is more expensive but I have a $45 credit on Gilt so the total amount I'm out is $65 including shipping (around what the 1st bag cost). BTW the chain strap bag is also French (Choclat Blu).

I initially voted nay because all your stuff doesn't fit, but I must say the bag is pretty adorable so I've no switched to yay; also I like this bag more than the Gilt one. If there is no way to pare down your purse contents, AND would like to get more use out of it how about using it on days where you're not at the restaurant so you can carry less stuff? Always good to carry less stuff anyway

I voted nay even though it is a very cute bag. First and foremost, if you can't fit all your everyday stuff in it, you won't use it very often. Second, in Pic #2, even without all your stuff in it, it already looks kind of weird and overstuffed since I think it's meant to lie very flat.

I don't love the Gilt bag either though... it seems a little... clunky, maybe?

I will stand alone and say that I like the Gilt bag and do not care for option one. I think option one has a lot going on for a very small bag and doesn't look comfortable or practical, especially when packed with all your essentials. The Gilt bag has that Parisian, Coco vibe with the horizontal tone on tone stripes and it is much more structured with cleaner lines. I like it, other red bag be darned!

Re: the Chocolat Blu chain strap bag. Yes, I can definitely pack it lighter! This is not a bag for a modern wallet. It has 2 pockets and 2 zipper compartments, I think I can use that for money and cards and that will free up a lot of room.

The return date is March 25, I have a little while longer to mull it over.

Meanwhile, the hunt for the perfect (larger) red bag continues.

Elly, maybe you are my style sister. I actually really like the Gilt bag, it feels different from most bags today, less hardware. But I worry about buying anything that's not returnable.

Thanks Rute and Rae. Last night I looked at 100s of bags on the internet and realized how much I like the one from Gilt, so I am going to get it and mull over the keep or return decision on the chain strap bag. My available funds will be the main factor. I am going to LA and then SF and had planned to do some shopping for spring.

Need to go on SYC until those trips! After I purchase the Gilt bag, LOL.
