Yay or Nay Cassis dress (with additional photos)

This is a follow up to Cecilia's thread that she kindly started for me while we were shopping together this afternoon, since she has the YouLookFab app on her phone.

Some additional photos:
#1-2: my laughable attempts at a self photo in the dressing room
#3: The Cassis dress side by side with the Nine West dress. Similarities - ruched waist, somewhat similar overall silhouette, purple/pink/black color scheme, draped neckline.
Differences: The Cassis dress is a midi, is long-sleeved, is a poly/spandex blend that really feels like a soft natural fiber, is a medium-scale floral pattern, and is much darker overall than the NW dress.
The Nine West dress falls above knee length, is 3/4 length sleeved, is a small scale hectic, abstract "scribble" pattern, and is a lot brighter than the Cassis dress.

Bonus shot: Cecilia and Kari at a tea shop - one of two tea shops we visited today. Cecilia is every bit as lovely, generous, and sweet in person as she is online, if not more so, and I am so tickled pink to get to see her and her wonderful family in person this week!

Oh, that Nine West one is lovely, I don't think I had seen it before!

I do like the fit and drape of the Cassis dress on you, but...I'm not sure about the color. It seems like a weird thing to say particularly since you look fab in the last shot of you and Celia at the tea shop, but the Cassis one might be too dark for you. I don't know, but something about the colors is draining some of the color from you.

The fit is great but I agree with Kristen, I love you in brighter and bolder colors especially with your hair! I much prefer the scribble dress on you! Do you have a teal dress? I'd love to see you in one.

I like it! I think the colors aren't reading well in the fitting room pics and we can see them better in the photo with the NW dress. I vote yay!

Can't comment a bit on the colour, but honestly Karik, the style you're describing sounds nothing less than ideal for a winter frock! What do *you* think of it? Are you wearing it to my place for dinner tomorrow?

I said go for it right from the start! This dress is different. More fashion forward. There is room for this frock change in your style. To my eye it's KILLER.

Kari, you have an eye for dresses! These may seem similar at first, but are different enough not to be concerned with duplicating the dress you've already got.

My original thoughts were like Kristen: nicce style but too dark. However that may be just awful lights in the dressing room and the colors may be better IRL.
I am so jealous that you guys have fun together already and meeting with Michelle tonight - and I have to wait until tomorrow!!!:-(

Sorry, I missed the first thread:-(( but now I can say I actually very much love the new dress-darker colours and all!!! So flaterring on you! Certainly, it can have a completely other use to the Nine West one-IMO.
I say, go for it!! (and Angie pointed out so well, this is so much"more fahion forward")

Thank you all for the feedback! Yes, the lighting in the dressing room was quite dim and the side-by-side comparison with the NW dress is a truer representation of how the colors actually look in daylight/natural light.

I think I will be keeping it, especially after having Angie's "Killer seal of approval!" The dress came with a full slip too, but even in direct light the dress is opaque enough that the slip isn't 100% necessary. (But welcome, because I actually don't have a full slip!)

Erin, unfortunately we found out that the Cassis chain is closing soon (February, I think.) The whole store is discounted to 40% off the last marked price, so the dress was quite a good deal, but after seeing the great merchandise I'm very sad for people like Cecilia who adore the store.

My opinion hasn't changed since yesterday. This dress is amazing on you. It doesn't look anything like the Nine West dress. Rip the tags off immediately. You own this look!

I did decide to keep the dress and wore it to meet up with the fabulous Michelle and Corey yesterday evening. So much fun! (Michelle voiced her approval too once she was able to see me in the dress in person.)
