WWIW Thigh high boots - YouLookFab Forum

Hey all,

I just bought a pair of thigh high boots and I am itching to wear it; I have a great opportunity for doing so coming Monday (=tomorrow, 10.11.14) as I am attending this downtempo concert at a local venue.

Although watching Fink (that's the name of the artist) on thigh highs would be a no-brainer, I still need to be office appropriate from 9-19:00 (I am now back on a newsroom and outfits can be quite casual, but I still like to mean business) as I won't have time to go home (history always repeats itself...) and change.

So, after a research online, I figured sweater dresses and shorts were the most common pairings for thigh highs. I am here then to ask for your input on how to "up" either of those - and still not look as Julia Roberts in "Pretty woman" - for my WIW tomorrow.

Suggestions?

1. All black leather on leather: that's how I would dress for the concert. But... can I pull that off in a creative office setting?

2/3. A warmer, less rock and roll variation: grey and black and sweat blazer. Plus the overcoat that would go over the outfit (if necessary due weather; temperatures have varied greatly lately - 18 Celsius to 5 Celsius from one day to the other)

4/5. Another variation on the same theme. Navy oversized sweater and a fitted navy winter coat.

Now the sweater dress variations.

1. Grey patterned
2. Olive
3. This is the overcoat I plan on wearing either over the sweater dresses or over the leather on leather outfit from the previous post. It does not fit me great, I know. I still like the A-line shape, though.

I like the first sweater dress best! If you're sure you won't be cold in it and it would be long enough for the office. What about wearing the coat from shorts pic#3 above over this dress?

You have so many pieces that work with the boots! I have a preference for the shorts outfits. The leather on leather is fab, and I do like the more casualized version with the grey knit blazer. I like the navy sweater as well but am guessing that is less of a "concert" look. The sweater dresses are nice too, but personally I think they are a little less office friendly due to their length. I'd go with 1 or 2 of your shorts outfits.

I LOVE these looks, although I don't know if I'd consider any thigh high boots with bare legs to be an office outfit. The first two outfits are my favorite - love the grey knit blazer best! It is hard to see the heels, but I think the best way to wear these to work would be over skinnies or leggings. And then go all out for dates, parties, concerts, etc.

Your outfits look perfect for a concert. I *adore* the Eiffle tower sweater dress. I'm with Alaskagirl about office appropriateness. Maybe over leggings and then change for the concert? Bare thighs + the boots would not be ok at any office I've worked in (but if you are in a very creative environment maybe?) In any case, you've loads of good looks for non-work events!

I'm with Una and Clara. These outfits look great on you but for the office, you might try black tights and remove them for the concert with either shorts or dress. I like all the outfits.

I love #2, but I think #4 or the first sweater dress are more more rock-and-roll looks for a concert.

Thanks for the input, girls! Following the concerns expressed by Joy, Una and Clara, I chose to change the leather shorts for leather skinnies.

Rock and rool and covered. I also upgraded the knit blazer for a traditional one, in an attempt to make the outfit even more work appropriate (I am wearing thigh highs to the office already... so as covered and serious as it get from waist up it is!)

Great outfits. Personally I would vote for adding black tights with the shorts or dresses rather than wearing actual pants. I can only really see the look being office appropriate in a creative environment, but I do really like the looks you have put together.

I loved all of the first outfits (particularly the Eiffel Tower sweater) and as Scarlet said I would just have added some sheer black hose with them, however I really like your final look that you went with.

For a night out or a concert (but not, as others have suggested, for the office), I like #2 and #4 best. They tone down the extreme sexiness of the Pretty Woman boots while at the same time showcasing those FABULOUS baggy leather shorts. With a longer coat, you look a bit like a flasher.

I really like the leather pants outfit you swapped them for, too.
