Would these wedge sneakers work with shorts?

Those of you who saw my SYC post may have seen that I'm going to try a seasonal SYB instead... I currently have three hot weather shoes, two nude and one black, plus a pair of nude boots for cooler days. I thought the wedge sneakers would be a good place to start, since #1 only seems to be available at Bloomies, and #2 I only found on one site that does free returns.

...but I realized that no one in Italy wore shorts, so I don't know if these are even good for me. Do any of these work with the kind of short shorts I wear? At first I was thinking that the yellow colors would be more leg lengthening, but maybe the height of the shaft is more important?

Added two photos of typical summer shorts outfits - #2 I would wear without tights in summer, obviously, but it's one of the more neutral combos and would probably look better with bright shoes.

How did you see these worn in Italy? With skinnies?

I think the high top versions are more edgy. My wedge sneakers are like #1 but in B&W and they feel too conservative for me (although I do wear them under wide-leg or bootcuts when I go to SFO and walk a lot).

Sure you could wear them with short shorts! I could see the orange ones with outfit #4, but you may need to roll the shorts shorter to balance the proportion of the shoe. It would be nice bookending. I am on team matchy so I would want at least an accessory picking up the shade of the bright shoe.

Denise, yes, I mostly saw people in skinnies and straight legs. I think only tourists wore shorts. Nordies has the coral ones, I think Karmaloop has the yellow Ash ones, but no free returns. Hm, I don't think my shorts need to get any shorter! My current sandals aren't all that edgy either. I wonder if this means my sneakers should be more edgy or less...

Zap, I do like those, but they feel too much like boots, which I have enough of for the summer. Maybe gray is better?

I have grey Converse and I adore them. I think I'd like any color for that matter, just not in neon.

The DKNY ones would be easier to wear, but the Ash ones would be edgier. I love the neon colors!
Those Ash ones would be perfect with your galaxy dress, too.

Rae, which color are you leaning toward? Since you say your sandals aren't as edgy, then maybe you can go for the Ash or DKNY as long as you're okay with the height of the former, which I think you are.

I love Zap's last link on the clay ones as they would work as fun neutrals as long as it's a neutral you like. I also think that either of the neon colors would work for you and yes, any of the three would look spectacular on you with shorts, or as Parsley said, with your galaxy dress.

I love 2 and 3 for you! I don't know how much more leg-lengthening you'll need with that high heel, but the citron might help with that. I can SO, SO. SO see these on you with the shorts. It's a total no-brainer.

Weeeell, I had decided to try #1 because I thought the lower ankle would be more ventilating and those were the ones that first caught my eye - lo and behold, it is sold out in my size. I do sometimes wear size 8, so maybe that is worth a try?

I decided to try one neon and one neutral - the yellow DKNY in 8 and these http://www.ashfootwearusa.com/ginsmog.html. Reviews seem to say they run small, so I went up from my usual 39 to an EU 40. There don't seem to be many wedge sneaker options out there, so if these don't work, at least I won't feel a need to try tons of different styles - and I'll have freed up a purchase slot for April.

I'm going to be a spanner. I think the DKNY ones would work, but the Ash's are too high for for your short shorts. Reminds me of a look I'd see in a hip-hop video, which I don't think is your style. I love short shorts, but always wear them with flats to tone it done.

Thanks for the encouragement, everyone. Anna, I felt the same as you, so I got the "Gin" Style to try. Lower heel and less buckles up the front, so hopefully more toned down. Got the DKNY to try out as well.

I think the grey are going to work out really well. I almost hit buy on these in black leather, as a Converse alternative, until I realized how "pre scuffed" they are. Too much for neat me:(
