Would anyone like to do a YLF Secret Santa exchange?

I thought it might be fun if we had a YLF gift exchange for the holiday season. : ) I know of a website that can handle it for us anonymously and no one's "Secret Santa" will be revealed.

If we can gather enough participants (around 10?), I'll go ahead and make a form. I love gift giving If you get someone you don't know, you could use the time up until the gift deadline early (December) to find out what the person likes, etc. We could also have a budget, like between $15 and $25 USD.

What do you think?

That would be fun! Does the website handle mailing addresses anonymously too (so that we wouldn't have to post our address for everyone to see, and only our Secret Santa would know our address?) I'm curious as I've never even thought of doing this online.

That sounds like fun, are any of the British or European posters up for it?

Maybe we can do a thread where everyone who participates gives an idea of what they're looking for (if anything), what their style is, and any other information they feel people need to know? For example Steph does not wear leather so it's important for her Secret Santa to know that.

I also vote in favor of maybe restricting it to accessories, since not everyone will be able to return/exchange something that doesnt fit. And anyway, $15-$25 is probably not going to get much in terms of clothing!

Are we doing separate pools based on region? I wouldn't mind getting an international person, but that's just me.

I don't think we need to specify what the gift should be, right? Just leave it to common sense.

I don't think we have to be specific Scarlet. But I'd hate to get something for someone that they already have, don't need, or doesn't fit or work for their lifestyle. It would be good to narrow it down a little bit.

I'm guessing that Megan is thinking of elfster.com, which lets you put together online your own secret santa exchange group. One person sets up the group, and each participant enters her personal info on the secure site. You can also list info on things you do and don't like or have allergies to, add in links to items you like, and you can even link to your Amazon wishlist (and I'm sure other places too). Once the site does the automatic drawing, the secret santa can send questions to her "santee" ~ without revealing her identity ~ to gather more info if she desires. I've participated a couple of times in elfster groups and it was a lot of fun. And yes, your address is revealed only to your group's organizer and your secret santa. The site can even send you reminders that the deadline for sending a gift is coming up.

Is anyone not happy to postage internationally? If you could let me know, that would be great. Just to give you a general idea of how much international postage costs- 2 shirts folded flat costs $10.75 from the USA to Australia (so I guess less to Europe?) so it's not too pricey.

I should've added above that I'll have to check with Elfster if it's possible to apply restrictions (like region) on who gets assigned to who so I will update when I know if this is possible.

I think the idea of another thread where people can give their Secret Santa some ideas of what they would like is a fun idea- if more specific details are needed then we can use the Elfster anonymous PM system.
