About your wardrobe and personal style

Worth the trip?

I've found a mall about 2 hrs away (in Atlanta, GA) that I'm considering making a day or overnight trip alone to. I was thinking that I could try on key styles in the different stores to see how they fit to make my online shopping a lot easier. What sizes and styles fit me best.

What I want to know is if it would be worth the trip. I'm not planning to buy really. Just try on and take pics to look at and show you all here. Think it would help me out? I'm having trouble ordering anything online because I am just so unsure of sizing. I don't want to waste money and time ordering and returning more than neccessary you know?

They have all the favorite stores that I'm seeing on this forum.

Nordstroms (I could get a prof. bra fitting)
Dillards
Macy's
BR
Armani Exchange
J. Crew
Gap
Old Navy
Ann Taylor
Ann Taylor Loft
Express
NY & Co.

MVM - I think this is a call only you can make. However, from previous threads, it sounds like you are learning and evolving your style based on the feedback from this forum. So it sounds like it would be worth it for that reason. I personally almost never order anything online since it's really hard to tell true colors and for me, it's hard to tell about fit. Unless I have previously had something in the same cut and/or know the exact sizing scheme of that brand, I don't do it.

I would venture to say that it would be worth the trip. In particular, I think it woud be helpful for pants. Once you figure out the brand and style in that brand (since they all thankfully have about 3 or 4 now) suits you best, you can have a kind of go to place for some of the basics as you rebuild your wordrobe. Plus, it sounds like it could be fun.

Perimeter Mall, MVM? I'm in ATL and Perimeter is about 20 mins. from me. I say do it.

If it works for your family and doesn't put too much of a strain on you, I'd say it's worth it (if only for the bra fitting). It's great to try on things and get a feel for how items fit, but I still have to try things on again from time to time. Let us know what you decide!

MVM, I would highly encourage such a trip. I took a day shopping at a large mall earlier in the summer (we live in a very rural area with no good shopping), and that experience has helped me know where to start size-wise with some of the online retailers I will order from in the future. Also, the professional bra fitting was worth the whole trip.

I would encourage you to take the trip if only the for the bra fitting.
(I just saw your comment Becky!)

I agree on the bra fitting. I would also like to add that in my experience I have had the bra fitting and then purchased 3 or 4 bras right then, but would reccommend only buying 1 or 2 to try out for a while.
Sounds like a fun trip.

I also think that the trip is worth it. Bra fitting us very important, and I second San to buy one or two bras then.

Thanks everyone! I think I may give it a try

katieck, I was actually thinking of going to the Mall of GA. I live in western NC so I was thinking that would be closest. I've never been to any of the malls in Atlanta, is there one you would suggest?

Ditto. And as a wonderful mom, you deserve to treat yourself and look fantastic.

I think you'd be crazy not to do it. If you can get your husband (or someone else) to watch the kids, and you get away for a day (or two), then do it. If for no other reason, then to get a break. I'm jealous!

GO FOR IT!

Get the bra fitting while you're there for sure. Have fun and tell us all about it.

If you come to Atlanta, I suggest Perimeter Mall and Lenox Square. I haven't been to Mall of GA, but it sounds like it has great stores. I say go for it!

Well, this weekend is a no go. They hubby is on-call with work so I can't leave him with the kids for an extended length of time. Poop! Won't be able to do it next weekend either. Maybe the next though. Thanks everyone!

Katieck, I'll definitely be checking out Perimeter and Lenox Square to see which is closest and easiest for my directionally challenged skills LOL! How nice that you live 20min from a mall! I'm quite jealous!

We have a Peebles here locally so I"m going to check that out this weekend for an hour or two on Sat. if I can.
