In the 80s I worked for a company that sold Finnish/Swedish fashions. Sometimes samples came in for staff at a much-reduced rate. Sometimes, I couldn't resist. The problem? Finnish sample sizes are much bigger than I am. I always drowned in these clothes.

But I kept a couple packed away for all this time. And after my recent weight loss I figured I would try to resize them. I am wearing one of the dresses today. I did not pay much for the alterations, so my question is: does it work?

Dress: Marimekko, circa 1986/87? Note bat wing effect, still present despite having narrowed and shortened the dress, which was almost ankle length on me, before.
Wide stretch belt: Old Navy
Sandals: Aerosoles
Bracelet: Childhood gift
