WIW uniform and controversial

This is my weekend wear. Outfit 3 is the uniform, slim pants, tee and cardigan with oxfords. Might be kind of boring, but really comfy. The shirt has a baseball tee curved hem, something different than most of my shirts. I like the curved hem.
1 and 2 are the controversial outfit. The pleated skirt probably breaks all of Angie's rules. It's too long for her preferred midi length and too short to be considered a maxi skirt. Somewhere, sometime around November I saw a picture of someone famous in a similar long black skirt, the caption read "the pleats save this from being frumpy". So I tried it. What do you think? Does the length make this skirt unsavealbe ?
I found a beautiful oxblood cropped moto jacket the other day. It was a bit out of my budget for things I wouldn't wear often, but I thought a charcoal cashmere tee with this skirt and the moto might be able to pull it off. I'll file it away for my dream wardrobe.

Would you consider hemming the skirt up a bit?

I think hemming it a bit and wearing it with a cropped top (or see Day Vies' post on Ornella's chambray skirt thread) would be good. I think you want to aim for more than just saving it from frumpiness, KWIM? Especially if you love it!

Also, the length and style of the leather jacket is bringing it down rather than playing it up to my eye.

My preference would be to hem the skirt as well, but, if you wanted to keep it this length, I think your top and footwear have to be more on-trend to make the skirt length look intentionally quirky. Your idea for a cropped leather moto jacket in oxblood could work, as would swapping out the pumps for a heeled bootie or cage sandal.

I think almost anything can be saved with the proper styling.
I actually kinda like the skirt as is.
Unfortunately that jacket doesn't help. Plus the burgundy wrap sweater looks too big for you.
I do like your potential styling ideas. But if it's not in your budget....

I think if you want to wear the skirt as is, the top layer(s) need(s) to be all the way up to your waist. Even the burgundy sweater is too long -- can you wrap it around your actual waist?

Actually. I LOVE the skirt and would love to see it 5 to 7 inches shorter. The burgundy wrap top is fab with it as is. Also like Mary's suggestion of wrapping it tighter and higher. The jacket needs to be shorter. But good job trying to make this skirt work. It has great potential.

That's a lovely skirt! I can see why you like it. If it were me, I would hem it up several inches to show off my ankles and a tiny bit of calf to remove some visual weight -- but not too short because it is so full that above the calves would make a person look very wide. With full skirts like that, I like the length of Dior's New Look, circa post-WWII.

Have you tried the skirt with other footwear like boots, booties, and cage sandals to balance the fullness?

An oxblood cropped moto sounds great with this skirt. . . Due to the fullness of the skirt, you probably wouldn't want a topper any longer than where the stitching stops.

Thanks for your suggestions. I think I am going to take a deep breath and hem the skirt. And look for a cropped sweater. Thanks!
I think I'll also try it on with some different shoes.
