WIW today + K/R on new navy/white dress

How do I look in these 2 outfits? K/R on dress? I thought it was a wrap dress, but it's not. Still, I like the shape of it. The neckline is a bit low, and I think it's going to need a snap or something. I'm not wearing any shapewear or anything. I was on my lunch break, and barely had time to slip the dress on for pics.

Colorwise:

The colors are higher contrast & I haven't worn anything with white in ages. Can I easily handle the high contrast? How do I look in these colors? I don't want to wear colors that overwhelm me. Thoughts, please.

BC, I really like the pattern of the dress - YES - you can wear high contrast. I'm not in love with the shape of the sleeves - same as the other dress.

That red and white top is lovely on you too.

Thanks, Angie. I really appreciate your comments. It's good to know I'm not off the mark with the colors. For my benefit, what is it about the sleeves that isn't right? Do my arms need a different type of sleeve? I won't be offended by any tips or advice. I might could wear a sweater or something to conceal the sleeves if they are a problem. If my arms are the problem, then that's another matter entirely, lol.

BC, it's a completely subjective thing. I don't find sleeves that are "neither here nor there" very flattering on anyone. They take away from the rest of the dress. And your arms are NOT a problem. They are great just the way they are. No need to cover up with a cardigan. At all.

I am Queen Pedantic About Lengths - hence I will nitpick about the lengths of gaments. If you like them - keep the dress.

Thanks, Angie. I find it difficult to find wrap dresses that I really like, so I will keep these in spite of the sleeves. They don't bother me really. That said, I will be sure to look for dresses with better sleeves in the future. I'm a huge fan of 3/4 sleeves. I don't mind sleeveless, either, actually. I absolutely hate regular short sleeves and elbow-length sleeves. Long sleeves are fine except in summer. Geez, I guess I don't have many sleeve options, but that's okay. I highly value your expert opinion. It's also a relief to know there's nothing wrong with my arms. I didn't think there was, but I had a smidgen of doubt when you mentioned the cap sleeves. All's well. Thanks!

You could get the sleeves removed! I like the overall shape of the dress, like the print and like the print on you. I like the sandals much better with the dress, where the entire shoe is visibile. I'd probably go with something lighter with the red/white outfit (which is also lovely!).

High contrast colours most definitely work for you. I like the idea of a wrap dress too, but am not loving the sleeves here , I have to admit. I also think it would lovely a little looser/drapier, but that's just a personal preference. You might get more sleeve drape with a bigger size. What's the label/brand here?

I tied the wrap dress rather tightly, and am sure I can get a looser fit; except for the navy & white dress, which is not a wrap. I'm going to return it because the fit isn't adjustable and the cap sleeves are a problem. I also think that the 8P size of the navy/white dress is a bit small for some reason. The 3 wrap dresses are all regular size 8--not petite--and are more comfortable. The brand of all 4 dresses is Maggy London.

It's hard to know what to do with the sleeves of the 3 wrap dresses. There's no cap to remove, as they are not cap sleeves and there's no seam; no sleeve sewn to the dress. The pattern is just cut in such a way that the shoulders are covered, if that makes sense. I may be able to get them remade into sleeveless dresses. ??? See sleeves in pic 3 (same dress as pic 2, just better pic). I did discover, on further inspection, that each of the 3 wrap dresses has a snap closure. That should help, but I'll probably still wear a cami underneath.

Below are the pics of the other 2 dress colors that came this afternoon. Same dress but different print, so I won't model them. It's hard to capture the colors with a camera. They're prettier IRL.

A good alterations person could remove that little "extension" of fabric and make the dress sleeveless. It's a relatively easy fix.

Yes, I think the 3 wrap dresses that don't have set- in sleeves can be altered easily.

I returned the navy/white dress due to the low neckline and cap sleeves. The fit is also a bit snug. I know I need to lose weight, but I always wear a size 8P very successfully, and this dress seems to run small. Maybe it's the brand, though. The three other Maggy London dresses I bought are all regular size 8, and they fit much better.
