WIB:Slouchy pants - YouLookFab Forum

Last week, Rachylou wrote something that made a lot of sense to me. When talking about which items to spend a lot of money on, she said that in her experience pants were not, as a small change in weight can result in fit difficulties very easily. This has coincided with my disillusionment with jeans, Angie's advice to search for the right pair and the need for some casual pants to wear this week when we have a photo taken to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary.

These are the pants I ended up buying. They are certainly baggier and less flattering than anything I have previously considered, but I think I like them! The ones in #1 are a poplin and are cropped. I have folded them further so they sit above my calf. The second ones are a very soft cotton and feel wonderful on. My thought is that these will be good for times when I need casual pants but shorts are too bare.

What do you think? Did I do OK?

Wow, Sharon, you look super fabulous in that first outfit! The second outfit is awesome, too, but I think I'm just wowed by the cream top and shoes in that first one. You couldn't have done better in picking pants that look great--and will serve you through those little weight fluctuations. Wise, indeed!

#1 is Killer to the power of Killer. I WANT THOSE SHOES. (I need a lower heel though). You did VERY well with those trousers, Sharon.

I like the second pair too, but somehow the belt and drawstring looks off. Can you do one or the other?

Angie, wow thanks. They are a bit outside my comfort zone, but I am surprised that I don't feel boyish in them at all, which was my concern with wearing pants. I will certainly try the second pair without the belt. This has given me some hope for winter - maybe the jeans I am looking for just need to be loose!

Sharon, these are fabulous looks! I love both trousers. Casual trousers to me are much, much better than jeans in the summer. Typically, I wear shorts in the heat (because I can for my casual life) or skirts/ dresses (because I love them and love them best without hose, which I can only manage in summer here).

But this past year I also got 3 pair of baggy linen trousers and adored wearing them.

For me, jeans are just too stiff and hot in summer. And that is saying something -- as you know, I am a jeans wearer!

For winter, you may indeed like a looser jean, a slouchy skinny vs. a skinny, or a BF jean. Or perhaps a flare -- if you get dry winters, that would be a great look for you with a pointed toe shoe. But you might also like a non-jean (yet casual) trouser.

#1 is absolutely killer as you already know. I, too, am in love with those shoes!

I really like #2, as well.

Two of my linen pants have drawstring waists. They are comfy and forgiving but also a bit frustrating. I have considered just doing away with the string, but I'm not sure it would be a good idea.

ETA: Congratulations on your anniversary!! That is wonderful.

It is our 25th anniversary, too! Not of marriage, but of being together, which amounts to the same thing for us. We have been trying to think how to celebrate. Normally, we are completely low key and don't do anything, but this year we want to mark it.

Congratulations on 25 years! You are looking fabulous. #1 is beautiful. Now they are Country Road pants? Can they be worn long also? Have you pulled them up on your calf? They look fantastic. #2 I like a lot too. I would tuck the drawer string in to the pants and keep the belt. They have a slight jeans look but better. May I ask where they are from?

OK, you are not celebrating 25th, because you look so young!

LynD, as Deborah has correctly identified, these are from Country Road.
Deborah, the other pair are CR too. I thought of you when I bought them, as they call them harem pants! The black ones are cropped to about mid calf on me. I pulled them up and they sit quite nicely above the widest part of my leg.
Suz, I think I like the softness of the fabric. These will be warm enough up until winter in our climate - they are only wearable now because they are so baggy! We agonised over what to do for our 25th, and decided that instead of buying objects, we would get a professional photographer to take a picture of the two of us. I will show you how it turns out.
unfrumped, I was a child bride. LOL. No, I was 22 which is young these days. Both my sons tell me they are not planning to marry until they are 30.

Happy Anniversary! Of course I love both new pants. I do think the drawstring competes with the belt in the second one but that is pretty minor. They are super flattering to my eye too!

I think I bought the pants in #1 today at Country Road, but I got the camel colour. The black is great and I was thinking about that too but had to draw the line somewhere. I love the slouch. They're so comfy and they look great with simple black tees as well as white shirts.

You look fabulous! And you're right -- these will provide both cover and cool on Summer days. I often feel kind of "exposed" in shorts, especially when indoors in A/C. I'll come back to these pics in June!

I'm excited to see you in a roomier pair of jeans too. xo
