Hi Ladies,

I was given a gift voucher to my friend's beautiful shoe store. While I adore her shoes, very few of them are 'me'. I came home with these shoes by Isabella called "Galicia" in black. They are an Australian company, the leather is beautiful and I could walk in them all day.

Now the shoe is different for me. I spent a couple of days considering and surfing Pinterest and the net for inspiration (ie. are these shoes frumpy or cool lol) and decided to take the plunge.

They have a hidden wedge of 7cm wedge and a 2cm platform (also hidden).

I am not a fan of 'sandals' so these could be a good shoe for warmer winter days right through Spring, Summer (not high summer tho) and Autumn.

I would like to know what you think, and I know it's difficult when you haven't seen the shoe styled. I am wanting to stretch my style a little, not too much lol, but I wouldn't have picked this shoe up, it was the SA who knows me a little who showed it to me as she thought it would work well with my general style.

Yes. It's called Adele's Shoe Gallery and she has a really nice range of footwear. All leather and just beautiful. But not particularly edgy ;(

I like them, they look super comfortable and I think would work well with black ankle pants and leggings, or with your tunic style dresses.

I think these could work for you. I have to admit I'm not usually a fan of this style of shoe, but the proportions on these ones are a bit different than the norm... Thicker strap, Interesting toe box, low sides... I like them. :).

They look comfortable. And the fact they have hidden heel but are still comfortable to walk long distances is absolutely fantastic! It's not often you find heeled closed shoes that give you a height bump but are comfy enough for everyday wear!

I have a very similar pair that I bought for a short stint working on hospital wards. There were health and safety regulations regarding foot wear but there was NO WAY I was wearing ugly shoes. They had a hidden wedge and a similar strap over. They were the softest leather and very comfy. I walked all day in them.

I haven't worn them since, probably because they remind me of the hospital stint.

I would love to see how you style them Deborah. Maybe you can give me some inspiration to revive them. (Sorry to make this all about me!)

LOL, I wasn't sure what was coming when I read that you wore yours for work in a hospital 'gulp' but I read on and I am pleased that you don't perceive them as ugly. I am weary of anything that could be considered a 'comfort shoe" - you may share my Aussie stereotyping of what "middle aged' women wear lol. It may be a few weeks before I get to wear them as it is really boot weather but once I get a chance i will certainly style them and show you.

I do like the low cut sides Deb. They may be a bit out of your style range, but I'm guessing they would work with some of your leggings and draped tops.

Definitely not ugly.
I share your thoughts about the 'comfort' shoe'. I avoid buying shoes in the pharmacy and certain specialty stores because of the stereotype. My mum and older sis, who both wear comfort shoes, think it's hilarious. They say I will eventually wear them because it's just what happens. I say never......lol

CocoC shall we make a pact? No comfort shoes ever;). My lovely MIL wears shoes that look like #1 and just don't want to no matter who comfy they might be lol

These remind me of a pair that Ornella has, actually -- this particular shoe is a little funkier than Ornella's version, but it's a similar idea, and I think this one it could work really well for your style. It's cleverly designed with the hidden wedge and platform and will be comfortable for sure. I don't think it ever hurts to have a shoe like this on hand. I look forward to seeing how you wear them.

With my increasing collection of Eccos, I fear I am coming closer to the comfort shoe stereotype, but hey...now that I seem to be buying my dresses from the gear department, who knows where I might go for my footwear?

I can see this shoe style adding nice variety to your wardrobe, while staying within your signature look. How about wearing these new shoes with your culottes or a skirt?

Jeweled, yes I am seeing these work with my culottes as it warms up a bit and also with my midi length skirts.

Suz you make me laugh I do think that in many instances it comes down to how we wear things. I have to say your 'gear' dress is very cool.

Rounded toes don't ever read as 'edgy' however the deep cut sides and hidden wedge do give it a certain modernity. They are kind of funky/stompy like Doc's, Fluvogs, etc.

My gorgeous mum wears similar shoes to #1. She's 88 this year. She would consider them pretty groovy because of the colour.

Carla, thank you. I agree that I don't find rounded toes edgy, but the I do think the shoe has a 'modern' look to it. You have affirmed my thoughts.. thank you

I do like the concealed wedge heel. And it looks like they will still be comfortable for walking. Look forward to seeing some pics of them on you. May not be for a while yet...

Brooklyn, the funny thing is that these shoes are from the Winter 2015 range yet to me they are not really a wintery shoe

They remind me of these shoes which I tried on a while back but didn't keep (too narrow in the toe box). They were flattering on.

I guess I would have to see them on you, styled with a typical look of yours.

Denise, I like those:) I have wide foot so it's awful when the toe box or the shoe in general is too narrow. Mine are quite accommodating of my foot and the leather while soft may soften further

Those are nice shoes. I'm Very interested inhiw you'll work them in. I'm used to them done a certain way and have no ideas out of that box (!)

I have had kind of a similar platform mary janes in grey, several yrs ago(may have some picties on the YLF, too) just even more casuals (they had sturdier trooper's black soles, to them, too) and I loved to wear them to denim skirts (with grey sheers or opaques), and straigh leg jeans covering them to the vamp. Loved them because they were substantial shoes, not dainty and so, they looked good to my frame:-). Now, your's are bit softer, dressier and black but still not dainty so can work with your drappy black wardrobe!
