WIB: Ink Blue and Black Jacket From A Favorite Designer

I think one of my first posts in the forum was regarding a Norwegian designer that I like, Mette Møller (mettemoller.no). In my wardrobe I currently have a couple of dresses and skirts from her collections, and I always check out what's new each season.

Last week, while thrifting, my heart started pounding when I recognized her label in a jacket. It is in ink blue corduroy with black insets in the back and as stripes on one arm, and has a dressy/sporty vibe. It is not lined, and feels like a cardigan on - and it fits me as it is. Since I was looking for a short non-blazer jacket for skirts and dresses, this was a great opportunity for me. Naturally, I bought it.

I found the jacket in her archives, and it is from her 2010 Spring collection. Although a few years old, I hope you agree with me that it still is current. I like it with both pencil skirts, sheaths, wider skirts/dresses and jeans/pants.

My style descriptor these days is "Sporty Dressy Chic Modern Classic". Do you think it fits within this frame? How can I style it to its best benefits?

Whoa, that's amazing, love the texture, the buttons, the collar, and of course the collar. Looks amazing on you. Not sure it needs much styling, just throw in on over everything, and out the door!

Looks like you are keeping the MK shoes? They look great.

I like it least with the black dress (due to the tie waist, I think) and most with the other two looks. I would also love to see it with your white jeans and maybe the red ones, too!

Yes, white jeans will look good, I think, Suz. The red ones are on the brink of getting donated. I tried them on today, and I just don't feel good about them anymore. I'm keeping them for another few months, but I doubt they will remain with me for much longer. The MK's are still on hold, but I do like them! My only concern is wether I'm actually going to wear them much. They ARE a bit high heeled.

Shevia, I definitely agree! Most of MM's designs are in a mix of classic/minimal/artsy, and a little on the side of mainstream fashion, which makes the clothes more timeless. That is among the things I like about her clothes.

Thanks, Windchime! I don't have many favorites, but being from Scandinavia, I find it worthwhile to support my locals when possible:) We are so few people, and they struggle really hard to make it work.

Absolutely gorgeous, Ingunn! What a find! It looks amazing on you. I especially love the way you have styled it in #3 with jeans and your new "nude" pumps. I am sure this jacket will be very versatile and that you will be able to wear it for many years to come as it has a rather timeless look.

Ramya, the red jeans are still in my wardrobe, but I think I feel about them as Ornella does about her chambray shirt - I love them in theory, but they don't get any wear. I do have a couple of skirts for S/S that will work with this jacket, thank you for pointing that out:) The jeans are Tiger, yes, also from the same Fretex!

I'm so envious of your wonderful thrifting Ingunn - this is a great jacket and the color is beautiful.

I really love it with the jeans in particular, probably because I am a jeans girl so much of the time, but I think it works nice with the dresses too.

Wow, this is quite a score. I don't see the jacket as trendy, more like a statement piece. I love the styling in #3 the best. Something along these lines where the base outfit would just be a stage for the jacket is the best way forward.

Texstyle, thanks! I really like it with the dark wash jeans, too. This is a topper that I think has a lot in common with a denim jacket, but it is more of a statement piece.

Ornella, how fun that you mentioned that. I thought of it as a statement piece when I saw it, too. You are probably right - it looks best with a simple, basic underpinning.

What an amazing find! How cool is that! The jacket would be incredible even if it wasn't by a well-loved designer. You have some really great thrifting mojo! No question about it. The style and color looks really good on you. The nude pumps make your legs look incredible in the dress and really great in the jeans. I take it you are keeping them? Looks like the jacket will work in all of the ways you listed. So the only thing you haven't tried yet is white pants with the jacket; either a modified white out or column. Not sure if that works for you but the white t shirt looks great with the jacket and the nude pumps look great ...and Angie always talks about ink and white....I think the jacket and you would carry it really well.

Thanks, all! It's the same designer who made my red fit-and-flare dress from last year, if anyone remerbers that one.

I am partial to keeping the pumps, but I have a couple more days left before I need to make the final decision.

I just love blue in spring! Definitely chick and dressy. Not entirely sure about sporty in #1.

Oh, and the nude heels I think are particularly nice with ink... and this after I sassed nude heels. I think that's the key combo tho for right now - ink and nude.
