I wear white shoes year round, and they are NOT sneakers. And I live in rainy Seattle, and brought three pairs of white shoes with me for a month long trip in Europe last year that's all about commenting on foot. Again, they were not sneakers. It can be done - and well - I do it. Why not!
I'm loving my mostly white booties. They are vegan so on rainy days I just wipe them off when I come in, and viola, they're clean. Windex or dawn works if they need a little soap. Black soles and heels also help with this. They pretty much work with everything and have been my most worn shoe this year so far. And they lighten up everything visually and are a great alternative to black for me.
I can definitely see the appeal of white sneakers and sandals and am keeping an eye out -- haven't found the right ones yet. Thanks Angie for introducing me to white, seriously, I overlooked it for so long and it's visually and psychologically so freeing and fresh to wear.
i think the white shoe issue is so American. Like putting your knife down and switching your fork between hands for every bite. I do also think white-out outfits change things, and the fact women wear pants now.

It's very interesting how differently people perceive white footwear. It's often thought of as frumpy and old fashioned. I see the opposite. I see modern, crisp and graphic.
I added white booties last year so that I could easily wear white shoes year round. Now I have white booties, loafers, perforated flats, fashion sneakers, pumps, and some white with black flats and oxfords. I even think there is a pair of white sandals but can no longer wear sandals.

I'm still not there. I like a white leather Stan Smith or other athletic shoe, white Birks or a sandal, and a white loafer, but despite how good some of our members (and fearless leader) wear theirs, the white boot or pump doesn't feel like me. I have zero interest in them. Funny how these things are.....
I like white shoes -- I've got booties,sandals, pumps ... However I'm not into white sneakers (unless i was crazy and bought the $500 Golden Goose ones)
I don't know, I can't see wearing white shoes in the winter around here. I love the way they look on all of you but the only white I have are sandals. It's not a frumpy thing, I'm not sure what it is.
My white shoes will have to be limited to spring and summer if I can manage to find any. I'm struggling with adding light neutral shoes in general, loafers and sandals. And the people around me who reminded that it's not Memorial Day yet, so why are you wearing white pants, clearly don't get it.
I can honestly say I have never seen a single solitary person wearing white boots here - ever. Nor have I ever seen a pair in a store . And it's not that I need other people to validate a look for me - but I find that interesting . And on that note , I'm off to find my white Birkenstocks and get them out for the summer
It's great we are all different. I like light footwear but struggle with white. I'm all in for camel metallic and taupe though. I do have white converse and I love black and white together on shoes ( or camel and white).
