I have teeny little toes, and they are shorter than my other toes. In general my feet are narrow which has the benefit of making pointy shoes comfortable. The downside is with gladiator sandals or pumps with a wider toe opening, my little toe can go rogue and pop out.

at a consignment store having a $10 for all shoes sale. My size, my color, quite good condition, and drat, foiled by the low cut sides and my little toe.

Talk me out of going back to test them again with tights...or not

Had any particularly frustrating so close, yet so far, items you had to walk away from?

How disappointing! I don't think I'd want a pair of shoes like this that I could only wear with tights, though, as cute as they are.

Can you go back and take a picture with your feet in the shoes? It may not be as bad as you think.

Yeah that's what I was thinking Firecracker, I actually had just gotten rid of a pair of shoes that hit one little toe in the wrong place with a seam and could get painful. But those shoes hurt even with tights. These don't seem to rub anywhere, just not give enough coverage.

JAileen - I might test them once more at a different time of day just to see, or see if a heel pad or something would shift my feet slightly.

Lisa - argh I know, I'm torn, I love how they look.

SO cool! If they don't hurt with tights on, to me $10 is totally worth it. That's like three coffees which you drink and are gone, or two pair of tights... So $10 for something that you can wear over an over - as long as you wear tights, doesn't seem bad to me. We buy sandals all the time that we would never dream of wearing WITH tights - so why not the other way around?

To answer your last question, I am not always good about knowing when to buy and when to walk away on issues like this. My foot issue is a wide ball of the foot (below the base of the toes). Sometimes I try on shoes and can't stand how part of my foot sticks out, and other times it is subtle enough or I want the shoes enough and they're otherwise perfect, so I get them. Case in point... See photo.

but really if you live them, they're comfy and there's a way to cover, why not go for it - if you WILL use them that is. Try pads or go a size up with a liner , that sometimes makes a huge difference in the way it fits and flatters the foot. Or try a toe wrap.

I would go back and try them with tights, they look lovely. ALeigh mentions some great tips to get them to fit.

Oh my goodness. For $10, I would get them to wear them with tights, if they work that way. No question. They are beautiful.

Those are very cute, I'd be tempted if I were you too. For that price, I could see making the sacrifice of a little wearability, and only wearing them with hosiery.

I have had the same problem - I had a pair of sandals that would occasionally catch my little toe. Not so much standing still, but once I started walking. I made do with them for a while, and then once I found a good replacement, they got donated. Now I keep an eye out for the potential for this problem!

Ahahahahaha! I have rogue little toes, too! But mine like to pop out of the sides of sandals.

Seriously, for ten bucks, those could be tights-only shoes, they are that cute! Unkess you are a very disciplined minimalist. I think the peds idea is a good one.

I'd only say no to the shoes if you eventually find they make your toes hurt. In which case, list them on eBay and make back what you spent.

Thanks all for the advice and commiseration, I'll go back when they open armed with tights, nude knee-highs and inserts and double-check. Viva, they are size 8 but reselling somewhere if they end up not working after road testing at home is a good idea.

LOVE the shoes and the price is definitely right. If you can make them work with tights, I'd run to get them

Oh, those are a very similar look to the snake ones that didn't work for me. I actually found the ones I tried to be rather low cut as well but would be ok with tights (I actually would have worn knee highs under cropped pants). Funny, but if my pair had a more pointed toe I may have been ok, but the style was rounded off. Why not give those a go with tights?
