Q&A about individual items, ensembles, and wardrobe

what to wear for football game where I see tons of people I know

and the weather will start out at 90 degrees and drop to 60 degrees by the end of the game.

I thought I might wear my green converse and dark jeans but am confused about what to wear on top.

I will be walking a lot (because of remote parking our car will be far away) and tailgating in a very casual atmosphere.

Thank you for your ideas!

You know, I wouldn't worry too much about looking overly nice. First of all, I doubt anyone else will, and so you will just feel awkward and stick out like a sore thumb. I would wear teamwear, or the colors of whatever team you're rooting for. It will be cold, so you'll probably be covered up in jacket or sweatshirt anyway.

maybe a nice tank top or a classy fitted tee and later a twill jacket or a hoodie over it?

I love football season! Especially college football... Are you going to a big game tonight?

I wear the team colors, though *not* a team logo shirt. :)

I wouldn't dare show up at a football game without a team shirt of some sort. My husband (and now I) are die hard fans. The Texas Longhorn fan moto is:
Come Early
Be loud
Stay Late
Wear Orange
So I wear orange like a good little fan. I always pair my women's fitted (not men's boxy) shirt with a denim skirt or jeans and comfy ballet flats and my white watch. Comfy, casual, and appropriate without being frumpy.

Team colors, definitely! I like kingadraakon's idea: Wear a sleeveless top and bring a cardi or hoodie and/or vest to layer as it gets colder. Jeans and Converse sound perfect.

I will be going to my high school alma mater on Friday for the first game of the season. I plan on wearing dark jeans, a red tank top (school colors) and a white cropped jacket w/ ballet flats. I am also a season ticket holder for my college alma mater, I tend to wear a school colored tee, with dark jeans/denim skirts, ballet flats, and fun accessories.

This is fun to read. I had no idea you were supposed to wear your team's colours to the game;-) I would have suggested jeans, Converse or ballet flats, a cute sweater with some interesting detailing and a fun jacket. And a scarf, of course (I always get cold). Don't listen to me Debbie;-) (glad you're back!)

Here, Inge. We took these at a football game last season.

Sorry to hijack, Debbie. Just proof that team colors are a must I suppose. :)

A sea of orange, big smile;-)) Thank you Sarah! It would be fun to attend a game once (will have to buy something orange though, I don't own any orange clothes).

If you visit me you can borrow something. My husband has made sure I have plenty of orange game apparel. :)

Great photo Sarah! Hook 'em!

Hehe, we are looking forward to Saturday, are you? ;)

Another vote for team colors! We have season tickets to our daughter's alma mater and always wear green and gold. My husband usually has on a ball cap with the school's logo.

For the Texas gals, good luck to the Longhorns on Saturday! Love the photo!

Cute thread :0)

I rock up at Mariners games wearing normal casual clothing and Converse. I guess I faux pas-ed!

What is tailgating?

Sarah, Brendan and I will probably catch the game on the internet if they are airing it. Otherwise we'll keep tabs on the progress. We have a friend couple who are SUPER into the game and tailgating, and the husband brews his own beer. He developed his own recipe and he calls it "Longhorn El Jefe Hopaweizen." :D

Angie, tailgating is when a group of people drive down to the stadium and park around it, in the parking lot or nearby, and set up tents or blankets around their trucks or cars and basically hang out and eat and drink beer or soda until the game starts. It's fun. It's kind of like a picnic at the stadium. I went to one tailgate on the roof of a parking garage adjacent to the stadium (with our beer brewing friend) and a neighboring tailgate group had a giant screen set up and SATELLITE TV projecting onto it from the back of their van so they could watch other games going on! They had armchairs and everything. It was definitely the most intense tailgate I've seen, it was like their whole house was there.

Oooooh. Thanks, Ana! Tailgating sounds festive! The one you went to sounds like the Oscars of tailgating.

Orange, orange, love orange!

Angie, we went to a Mariners game this summer and I didn't wear anything team-colored either. But I imagine in playoff time, I would.

*But* when its my alma mater ... yes, always orange.
